This is the ideal way to handle an obvious twist: by pairing it with a non-obvious twist. Everyone, and I mean everyone, figured that Sabo was alive, and most of us figured he was part of the Revolutionary Army, so there was no way for Oda to think that would be a surprise. So what did he do? He revealed that Sabo was alive and part of the Revolutionary Army... and then at the same time revealed Koala was a Revolutionary as well, something nobody expected.

I don't think you get how the memory thing works. It's not gradual at all. Everyone loses their memory of a person the instant they turn into a toy. Including other toys, which is why the soldier is unsure how many allies he's really got.

Sugar is Monets younger sister. She is also voiced by one of the most well known figures in the japanese voice acting industry-- Rie Kugimiya, the adorable tsundere queen herself. She also voiced the pink bee squad leader Bian of the tontatta tribe. Also Sabo in his adult version is voiced by the legendary Tōru Furuya, the VA of Amuro from Gundam, Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon, Yamcha from Dragon Ball series, Seiya from Saint Seiya, Kyousuke from Kimagure Orange Road and many more.

Im not entirely sure, but I think they only added the sabo and koala part to the opening after the reveal. If you look for it online you'll notice the most common version you'll come across does not have that section nor the one with doffy vs fujitora or his family members fighting
