I'm playing on Chess.com -- these aren't sponsored videos but the site seems pretty cool.
Chess is coming back again (again)! With Twitch Rivals coming up this week, I thought it was high time to dip my toes back into the world of the 64 squares. Wish me luck!

Hi, NL, the reason you ended up in the Pirc Defence is because you tried to play the King's Indian Defence against e4. King's Indian is played in response to d4 or c4. You can still use some of your knowledge of the setup, but it's not going to be the book opening and players who start off with e4 may have options against you that wouldn't be possible in a normal King's Indian position. It would be best to learn another opening to use against e4, but you didn't do a bad job adapting the ideas to the position either. Even if I cringed a bit at voluntarily blocking in your fianchetto bishop. The computer thinks it's good though so what do I know. Also, I love more chess content. Hopefully you'll consider adding it to the rotation again at least for a little bit.

In the pirc defense c6 is often a good move bc it gives your queen places to move
@polychromaa
@polychromaa 3 жыл бұрын
c6 isnt neccessary, unless you are talking about the czech defense. the whole idea behind the kings indian is to break in the center with e5 or c5, then playing Nh5 or Ne8 to play f5.

hey NL dont worry about it being the Pirc instead of kings indian, thats because - technically speaking - its only kings indian if you do d6+Nf6 in response to the queen's pawn opening from white

Would Kb5 in that last position not just win the pawn? He can’t defend with the knight and you attack twice with the king and bishop. That was my play; obviously not as good as busting through with the bishop sack, but more straightforward.
