SABUJ DWEEP/SUKHARIYA VILLAGE/MOTOR LAUNCH TRIP/BEHULA RIVER/HOOGHLY RIVER/SABUJ DWEEP TOURISM WBTDC

In our previous vlog "SABUJ DWEEP, Episode-1" we have given all the informations about the various ancient temples of Kalna and now we will be quickly moving on to the second Episode of this vlog, our much awaited visit to "SABUJ DWEEP : The Island of greeneries". Sabuj Dweep is basically a small island surrounded by the river Behula & river Hooghly from all sides. Previously the place was used as a very popular picnic spot but presently it is owned and maintained by the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. and has been strictly restricted to the outsiders other than those who have booked an accomodation in this property. To reach this property it is a must factor for all to pass through two rivers in a motor launch arranged by the WBTDCL absolutely free of cost or one can even hire a private boat and reach there as per convenience. Sabuj Dweep is situated under the jurisdiction of Balagarh in the Hooghly district and one has to reach the Sukhariya village to avail the Ferry service which is operated daily for the boarders of the Tourism Property. One can easily reach here by local train from Howrah or Sealdah and get down at Somra Bazar from where Van Rikshaws & Totos provide frequent services upto the Ferry Ghat at Sukhariya Village. Those who want to visit Sabuj Dweep by their own car should avail the Kalyani Expressway and STKK Road(Saptagram-Tribeni-Kalna-Katwa) upto Sukhariya village from where one had to park the car at a Private Car Parking Zone to keep the vehicles safe during their stay at Sabuj Dweep. This place is around 63 kms. away from our house at Birati and can easily be reached within a span of 2 hours. Since we had our own car with us we have already reserved two car parking spaces well in advance, one for me and the other for my brother at a Private Car-parking space with a charge of Rs. 200/- per night per car. The owner of this Car Parking service is Mr. Malo(Mobile No. 7003814678) and is known as 'KOUSHIKI CAR PARKING'. So after completing all the car parking formalities we hired a local toto and visited one of the most famous Kali Mandir of the local village known as the 'SIDDHESHWARI TEMPLE' and soon after visiting the temple we finally reached the Ferry Ghat to avail the motor boat service provided by the Sabuj Dweep Tourism Property only for their guests absolutely free of cost. At around 11:30 AM. our river trip started and we moved on slowly over the river Behula & River Hooghly to reach our destination : 'SABUJ DWEEP' after a mind-blowing journey of almost 20 minutes. We were simply taken aback with the magnificent view of the property soon after our entry. Spanning over an approximate area of 180 Bighas, the entire Sabuj Dweep is dotted with pine, palm, eucalyptus, teak, mahogany and many other species of unknown trees. This property also hosts a lot of entertainment offering beautiful gardens, wonderful models of different animals, a children park with a variety of gaming options and a small open-air amba theatre for occasional cultural programs. Besides, there is a restaurant for the guests and a View-Tower which gives a picturesque view of the river hooghly along with a huge portion of the tourism property. Another main attraction of this place is to get an opportunity to watch some of the rare species of birds throughout the island with variety of chirps and melodious whistles. There are also facilities for rental cycles and a boat-ride all along the river Hooghly for interested guests for which one has to contact the property manager. There are a number of cottages inside the property with different price range. All the cottages are very luxurious with all the required amenities and are located in the first floor leaving the ground floor vacant. Each cottages have two balconies, one in the front with a clear view of the inner portion and the other at the back giving a spectacular view of the river Hooghly. There are mainly three categories of Cottages available inside the property, the first one(AC Double Bedded Room) with a tariff of Rs. 2,100/- , the second one(AC Standard VIP Suite) costs Rs. 3,000/- & the third(AC Large Deluxe VIP Suite) for Rs. 4,000/- exclusive of 12% GST. Free Breakfast is served to all the boarders from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Dinning Hall. We spend a memorable couple of days enjoying every moment of our life amidst the nature with greeneries all around. Finally the hour of our departure arrived and we had to leave 'SABUJ DWEEP' for our ultimate destination, our sweet home.
