This was actually one of his best innings but highly underrated.. India had lost a few wickets in succession before and after he came to the wicket because ball was reversing a lot and McGrath was bowling exceptionally well.. In the end his innings was the difference in a tight series decider.. Dravid played a great supporting role..

I think McGrath before this ball showed a sign of tiredness which sachin noticed. He was challenging sachin to hook, which he wasn't doing. Sachin had pushed to mid-off before this but avoided a single and commentators were wondering why. He than cracked the shot next ball.

Actually 80 90s era pitch conditions are grassy like USA not batting as well as bowling friendly, tough to play 130 km/ hr bowl too Great bowlers that time too Mackgrawth ,Pollock , Chawinda Wash ,Fanie de Villiers( 18 test match 85 wickets) i don't think modern generation kiddos ever Heard there name having bowling speed avg 128 km / hr tough to play .
