Put Monk in the starting lineup and having Keon being the next man off the bench playing huge minutes and BOOM…fixed it. Now we just need to get Domas some help with another big and I think we can survive the rest of the year.
@LivinProoof14 күн бұрын
Might be able to survive the rest of the year or even continue gathering a bunch of wins with roster as is. Instead of a backup big, need a defensive wing with length, who that will be, no clue. But we need more resources in that wing spot than the center position cuz sabonis is happy eating most of those minutes up anyways. Just a wing for matchup struggles like lebron, giannis, etc. (No one can guard giannis regardless but you get my point.)
@gridlock48914 күн бұрын
Kevin Huerter is also demoted to spot-minute role player, which is making a big difference
@ryguyw114 күн бұрын
@ no doubt. I’d be happy with either one if the price is right. Getting a Center AND a wing at the deadline is a bit of a fantasy IMO. I’m not opposed to the John Collin’s trade but if we loose Lyles then the backup 5 is really thin. Tough decisions

Brown had something with the first beam team but scaled back the free flowing offense to focus on the defense and would absolutely scorch any chemistry benching guys games at a time for details not letting guys play through slumps etc.

The main issue as far as I can tell with Mike Brown was that his rotations were not consistent and players would often get punished for bad performances. To be fair, there were some injuries early on that played a role but there were many instances when he would for example not play Keon Ellis for an entire game.
@samscharp336713 күн бұрын
I really liked Mike Brown when he was hired and how fast he turned the Kings around and making them relevant again. I was pissed when he was fired and thought the Kings were done-fer this season. But you can't argue with results and the Kings seem to have come alive. Doug Christie is an overall great guy and I think the players are playing harder for him.

People saying it has nothing to do with a coaching change are oblivious and don’t watch Sac play ball Since Demar got there Mike Brown completely changed the offense. The pace slowed down, the focus went to high guard screens to split the floor and get Demar in the post 1v1 which is great because he makes his shots but it got nobody else involved offensively. Keegan Murray was shooting 29% from 3 under Mike Brown and is now shooting 35% through the games with Doug Christie. The offensive pace is back to the speed it was in the Kings 22-23’ playoff season. Obviously Keon Ellis is a game changer defensively but everyone knew that and Mike Brown didn’t play him and wanted to continue forcing minutes to 29% 3 point shooting Kevin Huerter but it amazes me that so many people think they just start going 8-2 after a coaching change because they started playing Keon Ellis more let’s be real Mike Brown was the problem

NGL, but there is something secular about it. Since they done the beam, it broke the 17 year curse. As corny as it sounds, the city 100% feeds off the beam and has unlocked the city. Everyone is happy when it’s lit.

Starting Monk and having Ellis come off the bench. Giving Lyles time on the floor (brown must have forgot about Lyles?!) for length, versatility, and creating iso opportunities for DeRozan. Faster pace and locker room attitude adjustments. Roster isn’t entirely the same - Carter joined from the G league which created more depth but idk if Christy had a voice in that decision.

Mike brown was definitely the problem. Playing keon Ellis and starting monk has made a huge difference. The lineups are just much better now. Christie has a special ability to connect with players on a personal level and boost their confidence. Mike brown struggled to relate to players in a way that brought out the best in them. I follow this team closely. There was a lot going on behind the scenes. Sasha Vezenkov in a recent interview said that his conversations with Mike “weren’t honest”. He’s European, so I don’t think those were the best words to describe his feelings, but you get the jist.

00:40 WRONG! It’s 100% things DC is doing and MB didn’t do: 1. DC simplified the offense. 2. He’s giving KEON more minutes than MB ever did. Keon DNPS were hurting their chances of winning… unforgivable. 3. They are practicing less. It’s easier to play at a faster pace and hit 3s, free throws, play better defense with fresher legs.
