It’s a risk that’s the main thing. If I were to have a guarantee that I would win the tournament and be integral to the team I would take it. But if he had lost the World Cup or been given little to no game time, it would’ve haunted him for the rest of his life.

Apparently at 18 Umtiti had a meniscus injury which led to his meniscus being removed. So even if he had taken a surgical route in 2017/18, he would still be just as prone to injury post-surgery as he was. He probably did make the right choice. That said, as a Barca fan it was annoying af and his high wages hurt us big time

If he is still on Barcelona contract, it means that he is basically very rich man. 5 years at the Barcelona means 260 weeks times that with probably something like 150 000 euros. Absolutely worth it. Anybody who actually is passionate about this game, or is passionate about achieving greatness in this game, would agree and do the same.
