What an incredible house this must have been back in the day. I have to admit that every time I watch a video like this I want to weep. All that beautiful antique furniture just sitting there forgotten. How wonderful it would be to be able to save it so that future generations could see the beauty of it. Thank you for posting this wonderful. yet sad, video.

I know you don't take any items out of these houses you explore, but when you find abandoned houses like this one that is filled with beautiful antiques that have been left to rot, maybe you could contact a local historian or a collector to salvage these items before its to late. Awesome video by the way. Thanks for posting. 😊👍

At 5 minutes and 50 seconds, in that kitchen corner cabinet there is a little tiny glass mug with a handle. It is a small root beer mug which they used to give free to children under 5 years old whenever you would visit the A&W Root Beer Stand drive-in restaurant where they would come out to your car to take your order, you would order however many mugs of root beer along with if you wanted any burgers or fries and they would bring it back to your car. I was born in 1960. I remember these little baby root beer mugs. Children under 5 years old would always get a free mug of root beer where the older kids and adults would get regular size glass mugs of icy cold A&W Root Beer. It was the best root beer you've ever tasted.

My mother did our laundry with an old wringer washer like that. For white things she had to boil water on the stove, (it was a cold water flat), everything else was laundered in cold water. The soap was Fels-Naptha which was in a bar that she would chip up with a knife. Seeing that brought back so many memories. Thank you.

When I think back to my grandmother using one of those. She was stressed out using when children were about. Stay away from there! It will crush you! Thankfully she got a more modern washing and dryer set.

My mom didnt get a modern washer till i was 6 (1953). Till then she used the wringer Maytag, and i can remember her warning me to keep my hands clear. My aunt had a couple fingers crushed by one. She lived out in the country and used her wringer machine till about 1960. I remember mom using that old Fels-Naptha soap too. Thanks for the memories.

Admiral has been around since 1934---yes, "has been," as it's now owned by Whirlpool. They made everything from portable radios (including for the US military during WW2), TVs (quite expensive, but all of them were back then), kitchen appliances (we actually had an Admiral refrigerator and TV when I was a kid)---everything you can imagine. Good quality, they were backed by good guarantees. Antiques galore---and a mini-bike, the first one I've seen in an explore! BTW, that "juke box" was an old AM/FM, or just AM, floor model cabinet radio. I used to sit in front of one similar to that when I was a kid, back in the '40s, listening to "Terry and the Pirates," "The FBI in Peace and War," and "Tom Mix," to name a few.

I love antiques but have some now I have to sell or do something with, i can't take them with me when I move, I'm downsizing. The closing on my house was today & I have up to 60 days to move. I bet if you plug in that Admiral it'll run.In the 40ies/early 50ies refrigerators(and cars)were predominantly American,as well as in Holland(I'm Dutch)as in Indonesia(our former colony).They would like run forever.We still use a 1948 Frigidaire,3 years ago the Meter-Miser finally gave out so we replaced it with a 1/4 hp Panasonic,because here in Indonesia one can't buy American fridges anymore,all Japanese(very expensive)or local/Chinese(junk). All of those great old marques are gone now.Cars too.Holden(GM Australia)closed too.Finished.

This is one of your best finds! My heart breaks when I watch these videos, but I'm also excited because this has been an obsession since I was a little girl. I know you don't touch things or open drawers or anything like that, but sometimes I wish you would because you might find some clues as to who use to live there. Also I wish you would open doors in the houses because usually behind those doors are other rooms. I feel you are missing out. Old houses always have rooms next to rooms that can only be gotten into by a room and not a hallway. I'm so jealous of the explores you go on and thanks for letting us hear a little of whoever is with you. I'd like to hear more. LOVED this video!

I would also like to comment, before the banks or however in your country knocks down old houses, could they please at least try to recycle whatever can be recycled..??Or take really good antiques, to a museum, or gallery...etc. It seems such a waste. I have seen so many beautiful old doors. My home was built in the 80s and the doors and windows are really trashy. I have an old Admiral fridge that is over 30 years old and still works.!!!

Some of these buildings are owned by the state from taxes. This one looks like it belonged to a hoarder because of so much "trash" around inside. If the person had no relatives or tied up in court it could have remained in limbo. If you want to check on ownership go to your local library and check the "plot maps" for your area. Those books will tell you who owns it. Take that information to the county building in some counties online and you can get the name/address of the owners. Tax and ownership records are public so easy to obtain.

Marcel Audubon exactly! No hoarder house. People say that about these old houses all of the time and I’m sure it was the vandals getting to it a long time ago. They also sometimes look like the family used it for storage after the main occupants passed and then they moved on or passed themselves”.
@msannabell15615 жыл бұрын
Mark Linder that makes sense. The calendar from 1969. I agree with Kappy I think it was left empty since then. That is probably when the lady went into the nursing home. I don’t know how it goes around there but where I live if you go into a nursing home and you have not already passed ownership of your property to someone else then the nursing home has dibs on it and it can’t be sold or passed on to other family members. I’m not sure what happens after the owner dies though.

Virginia Conway yes I understand that there are relatives that “just can’t be bothered with some old house stuck in the middle of no-where” but I can’t help but to think that there is always a way to do something properly, like a donation to charity...anything besides just letting something sit and rot away because just letting it right away it’s bizarre just pure laziness in my eyes.

When the last person goes into a nursing home or dies....there is no one left!! Happens to a lot of movie stars, especially when they are unmarried!!!

I second your "holy cow!" - what an incredible treasure trove time capsule. I could have spent all day there just taking it all in for a trip back in time. Thanks for sharing!

I am always amazed at these old farm houses you find to explore I loved it when you open the cabinet and it was so clean inside not a lot of dust I do believe that you edit your videos. We want to see what is in cabinets and cupboards just the stuff on the floor was interesting the picture of John Kennedy Jr at his father's funeral stuff like that I noticed the old trunk in the bedroom and a few minutes later you show a label from inside the trunk but you do not explain that. stove in the kitchen and the wringer washer all the great stuff in the garage. I have seen other explores show attics with some kind of an extension rod I was so dissapointed about the attic I do love your videos I look forward to them

Goodcatch. I wondered why he didn't comment on it until I realized he probably had no idea who that little kid was. Gotta admit, that photo kind of gave me the chills. Also, wasn't that a Kodak Brownie camera in the cabinets? Wonderful video.

Imagine if those mirrors could show you what they had seen. Not too many houses have the original and more modern furniture. By the looks of the house and that cupboard packed tight with rubbish in bags, I would say that the later residents were hoarders.
@virginiaconway3744 жыл бұрын
People who lived through the great depression and even the 2nd WORLD WAR were savers of everything because they knew what it was like to be without and that was not a hoarder but a survivalist! Today, so-called hoarders are a completely different breed.

You pointed out a cement mixer in the barn. Remember the calendar in the house had a cement company on it? Maybe that was the family business? Thank you for the videos! I really enjoy them!

Kappy you have some of the best videos. I enjoy your videos because you find the greatest places to explore and there is no bad language and you keep them interesting. The old washer and sewing machine looked liked the ones my grandmother use to have. As always be safe.

I learned to sew on a treadle like that. I didn't put a lot of care into what I made as I was ticked I wasn't entitled to an electric. I'd sew simple shift dresses popular in the 60's & my mom said she was always surprised when a dress came home from school with me in one piece & not ripped out, hehe.

There are a lot of practical items as well as antiques. It always disturbs me when I see so much waste when so many needy people have almost nothing. All that silverware! Fans. Books. Furniture. Such a shame. And to think there are countless places all over the world like this. Even some homes still liveable. Thanks for the vid.💔🤔✌

This makes me so sad. To think this house was full of noise, kids, holidays and activity. A mom or grandma cooking breakfast on that stove, doing laundry in that washer and now nothing

This was also a great trip,. I could plunder around in a place like that for days and never see all there is to see..

All of that furniture looks like back in the late 1930's. I was born in 1947 & we had that furniture. My mother also had a wringer washer, yet I was using one in the 1970's. We had old door knobs like those with the metal square box behind it, with the flip lock on top of it (whatever they're called). As for the stove, when I was a little girl my Grandmother cooked on one of those. Great find! Reminds me of the 40's.

Great find, you can-imagine what it looked like in its glory days did you notice that old Kodak Camera in that first closet "stuffed with stuff"? That black square object- had one just like it when I was a kid that was my fathers. Wish you would have checked out those old records > that could have dated the era- anyway-this is one of the best finds out there-thanks👍
