Here's what I think should've happened: Mario and Luigi dress up as Santa and an elf saying that they have presents for Bowser and his minions and the presents turn out to be sleeping 'shrooms and when Bowser and his minions eat them they fall asleep and Mario and Luigi get the keys from Bowser and free Peach and enjoy a special Christmas celebration in their honor at Peach's castle.
