Lady ,there is a market place to go ,they understand that finding a place in the market may course them to pay taxes that's the reason they want to hang around the streets corners.

People cannot occupied all the streets corners as a market place this is what we are hoping for development it comes with the consequences this is one of them.If you and thausand of Gambians sales on the road side and driver loose control of his car and kills who is to be blamed ?The same law enforcement agency when you are the course of it at the first place ,please find a place in the market

These vendor's want their own way and refuse to sell inside the market areas, because of having to pay rent, but surely if you sell nice products in hygienic conditions, then you will attract more business. Inside out of the rain has to be more appealing than wet weather street selling. We want to be able to walk in safety away from the traffic, but as it is right now we pedestrians face too many obstacles.

I understand that some or most sellers cannot afford to pay tarriff dues, lempo or have money to pay rent for a spot or a space in the market or some people simply don't want to deal or faces the high competition inside the market place which is very unfortunate based on demand and supply. However, if some of these sellers don't want to go to the market or can't afford to pay rent, why not just tear down their fence walls and build a structure or a small canton or boutique jnside the house facing the street with a big wide open window and the door 🚪 of the store inside the house 🏠 and on their walls print or paste drawings of what goods of pastries or paltry they are selling or advertising for customers or passersby to see what they are selling as long as it is not done outside the fence line or the road corridors..Now problem all solved.

Like your statement. Problem solved but I doubt they'd listen cuz not all Gambians comply by the law.

@@ruqayyah_martinYes you right and that is our downfall and detriment. We can be very rigid and stubborn at times..I know us very well and with that said, I am a true believer that every problem we face in life have a solution..The problem is, most people just don't want to think for themselves and wants to wait for miracle to fall from the sky or want to live in a wishful thinking world and hoping and wishing that God will do all the thinking and the solving for them when God has already gave us the capacity to think for ourselves..Heck, God has more important matters to take care of bigger than our petty problems ..Gambians or people in general always want to blame others and always using God for an excuse for their inability to think for themselves..In the real world, it doesn't work that way looking for sympathy or easy favors..It is a cold hard world unfortunately..

@@facethetruth8190tear down the wall of a compound where you are renting ? Do you have any realistic ideas about how a poor person can make money, now that they are being denied street selling ? Do you actually know any poor people in Gambia ?

Manneh says it isn't "right"to sell on the street. Well it isn't "right" to deny a person a means of earning their livelihood.

What’s happening in the Gambia is the saddest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Those corrupt officials who are now living on the back of every Gambian by stilling from the coffers of the government are now doing this to the very people that voted them in power. Sad shit

There's also other ways to market your goods and services like online outlets and social media with deliveries instead always sitting on street corners we have to embrace new ways of doing things. Think outside the box 😢
