Sad news😢 We are very unlucky this year! | Friesian Horses

Horses are vulnerable. Very vulnerable. It can go wrong from one day to the next. Out of nowhere Myrthe started to walk weird. It's Wobbler. And also very extreme. Unfortunately, this can just happen. And for her there was no treatment. It kept getting worse. She couldn't get up anymore. We had to free her from her misery. we had to put her to sleep...
R.I.P sweet Myrthe!!
Unfortunately, horses can't talk. We'll never know if anything happened to her in the meadow Or that we were just unlucky again.
We continue to see Myrthe in a number of videos. But we miss her already!

Oh, I am so very sorry about Myrthe. Horses really are delicate animals despite the size and strength. Having to euthanize one is always traumatic no matter how appropriate the decision. May her memories be a blessing.

As you made the comparison between a paralysed human and a horse, I have to mention that we find moral to take care full paralysed humans even in deep coma for years, but immoral to let paralysed animals to live! A whole hospital to run the project of a paralysed human even for years, but a horse can not have the same treatment. Its animal. Who cares. Can not tell us what it really wants, so we believe its right to put it down and alsobelieve that the horse is happy to die! What a crazy world! I judge nobody but I wanted to express my thoughts.

I am so sorry for Myrthe. I have had two back surgeries. I know how painful and frustrating a back injury can be. It has to be even more so for a horse. I believe that she is smiling from Heaven and is with Star and Rising Star's mother. They will be there for you when your time comes. *GOD BLESS*

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about sweet Myrthe!! I know wobblers, a friend of mine had a Great Dane with wobblers and I remember her saying large dogs and horses were both prone to it. You did the kind and humane thing for Myrthe, now she runs in heaven's pasture with Star and Frieda's foal. Many good thoughts to all at the stable, thank you for sharing the good and the sad times with us, and letting us help lift you up in hard times.

Poor dear Myrthe :( To help them pass without pain and suffering is the final gift we can give the animals in our care. It is never an easy decision, but it is always for the best for those we love.

One has to be careful with that decision, too. There's a heartbreaking video here at youtube whereas a cat owner warns the viewers about putting down your pets at some places. The cruel vet stuck the cat with the solution which did cause pain to the cat. Then, the cat just froze as if some one hit the pause button. What should have been a peaceful send off turned out to be morbid. The owner shared the video to warn others of that particular veterarian who lied to their faces about how the procedure would go. Personally, I think I'll have my three cats to die at my home...a place where they at least know the people who live there.

If that one filmed such a procedure (obviously for getting clicks) instead of doing something about it, that says a lot about that person, don't you think?!? Throughout my nearly 40 years of life we lost two family dogs and two birds and our vet was always professional, reliable, honest, kind and peaceful, not just with the poor animals but with us, too. We were always with them till the moment of their last breath. They were with us for so long, they deserved the best treatment and someone they know by their side while their passing!

I wish I could be there in that meadow to scratch and rub and cuddle all of them as you do. It might help ease the pain loss causes. Dearest Eyvonne. Life stood still, when I read the sadness about beautiful Myrthe going down hill till she could not longer get up. The joy is the love you and your staff gave her. You gave her the joy to be a horse enjoying the pasture with her other friends. And then the safety of a worm barn to come into when they weather was cold. You were a trusted part of her life. You gave her the best life a horse could enjoy. Thank you Evonne for sharing even when life brings us to the point, when life stands still. We have to stop and reflect on that life. It gives me peace to know you did all you could do for Myrthe right up to the end. I pray our Father in heaven has a special green pasture for Beautiful Myrthe and Star, that is an extension of the love you gave Myrthe here on earth. My horse was a beautiful white Arabian horse. She was an enchantress that raced with the winds of my heart. The bond was so strong, i am not sure she new she was a horse. She won first place constantly on the shows on the jumping circuit in her life time. The good memories last forever. I want to share with you a very funny story about The Snow horse, that I think you will enjoy. She was on the show circuit in the Hampton's in Long Island, N.Y... We were in the process of moving to Virginia. I was away looking for a new house and barn. While I was away, the show barn put her out to pasture with the other show horses. She became the leader, something I was not aware of at the time. When I returned i climbed over the fence running to her and calling her. She lifted her head, and started running to me at a full gallop. But because she had become the leader, all the other horses in the pasture followed her at a full gallop. I became afraid, and had to turn around and run away and climb back over the fence for safety. She was so beautiful. As the years past, she developed cancer. I took her to the best horse hospital. They said there was nothing they could do to save her. She lost her huge thick muscular neck. It became time to put her down. I was with her every minute. I laid on top of her for two hours out in the pasture till friends came to take me to leave her. At that time the loss was so great to me that time just stood still. My heart was at such a loss. Thank you for sharing your loss of beautiful Myrthe. You reminded me of the importance, to always take good care of those you love. For good memories last forever. I pray my Snow Horse is in God's loving pasture in heaven with Myrthe and Star. You actually have become , a. Large part of God using your sharing about Myrthe, to help me get over the loss. Wobblers is a terrible thing to watch a horse go through. My heart breaks for you and the stable as a whole. She was a beautiful girl and had the best life there with you all, and the other beautiful girls. She will be missed, but I know she had nothing but the best and was surrounded with love.

That's such sad news! Myrthe had such a sweet disposition. It's really going to be sad to not get to see her in future videos, but at least she is in a few, where we can see her and remember her with fondness. Thanks for sharing her with us!
