The piano is an acoustic, stringed musical instrument invented around the year 1700 (the exact year is uncertain), in which the strings are struck by hammers. It is played using a keyboard,[1] which is a row of keys (small levers) that the performer presses down or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to cause the hammers to strike the strings. The word piano is a shortened form of pianoforte, the Italian term for the early 1700s versions of the instrument, which in turn derives from gravicembalo col piano e forte[2] and fortepiano. The Italian musical terms piano and forte indicate "soft" and "loud" respectively,[3] in this context referring to the variations in volume (i.e., loudness) produced in response to a pianist's touch or pressure on the keys: the greater the velocity of a key press, the greater the force of the hammer hitting the strings, and the louder the sound of the note produced and the stronger the attack. The first fortepianos in the 1700s had a quieter sound and smaller dynamic range.
An acoustic piano usually has a protective wooden case surrounding the soundboard and metal strings, which are strung under great tension on a heavy metal frame. Pressing one or more keys on the piano's keyboard causes a padded hammer (typically padded with firm felt) to strike the strings. The hammer rebounds from the strings, and the strings continue to vibrate at their resonant frequency.[4] These vibrations are transmitted through a bridge to a soundboard that amplifies by more efficiently coupling the acoustic energy to the air. When the key is released, a damper stops the strings' vibration, ending the sound. Notes can be sustained, even when the keys are released by the fingers and thumbs, by the use of pedals at the base of the instrument. The sustain pedal enables pianists to play musical passages that would otherwise be impossible, such as sounding a 10-note chord in the lower register and then, while this chord is being continued with the sustain pedal, shifting both hands to the treble range to play a melody and arpeggios over the top of this sustained chord. Unlike the pipe organ and harpsichord, two major keyboard instruments widely used before the piano, the piano allows gradations of volume and tone according to how forcefully a performer presses or strikes the keys.
Most modern pianos have a row of 88 black and white keys, 52 white keys for the notes of the C major scale (C, D, E, F, G, A and B) and 36 shorter black keys, which are raised above the white keys, and set further back on the keyboard. This means that the piano can play 88 different pitches (or "notes"), going from the deepest bass range to the highest treble. The black keys are for the "accidentals" (F♯/G♭, G♯/A♭, A♯/B♭, C♯/D♭, and D♯/E♭), which are needed to play in all twelve keys. More rarely, some pianos have additional keys (which require additional strings). Most notes have three strings, except for the bass that graduates from one to two. The strings are sounded when keys are pressed or struck, and silenced by dampers when the hands are lifted from the keyboard. Although an acoustic piano has strings, it is usually classified as a percussion instrument rather than as a stringed instrument, because the strings are struck rather than plucked (as with a harpsichord or spinet); in the Hornbostel-Sachs system of instrument classification, pianos are considered chordophones. There are two main types of piano: the grand piano and the upright piano. The grand piano is used for Classical solos, chamber music and art song and it is often used in jazz and pop concerts. The upright piano, which is more compact, is the most popular type, as they are a better size for use in private homes for domestic music-making and practice.

2 years ago I listened to this beautiful piece when my father passed away. I listened to this as I cried myself to sleep for almost a month. It's hard to explain the grieve I felt at that time. But this piece had helped me to let him go.. one day at a time. It still hurts a little to listen to this again, but the grieve I felt back then, now felt more like peace.. I lost my pet, and grandma, in the same car crash a few days back. I needed to spill out all my tears in one. I needed something to match how I was feeling, to honour ,you grandma, by thinking of her, and to honour felix, wo listened to me better than anyone. I think tue right song has found me. Is this really what growing up means? Less and less people around you?, Im trying to get used to being alone, for the most part its quite nice and peaceful but thinking back when my cousins and my brother are playing video games on our room at christmas eve, and now id be alone, they'd be with their own families and all i could do is remember the times where im still happy. But im glad those moments happened and i experience it before this times came when people arent around anymore.

I'm in good health but my mind feels a deep sadness that cannot be explained. My college friends of long ago 1972 are all gone. My family is much too busy with their own lives. I listen to this everyday at night ... I'm honestly depressed, my life's fucked up. I'm emotionally cold now. No one likes me , not even my family. I'm tired of being here. I just wanna end it all. Sometimes I think I actually deserve some happiness, but I'm always where the sun doesn't shine. I fake a smile everyday of my life. I hate myself like everybody does. Sometimes I think it's not worth it for me to cry or to care about other people's opinions but it just hurts me. I'm used to it but it hurts. I'm not crazy, I'm just lonely. When I'm dreaming with a broken heart waking up is the hardest part. I remember i used to have dreams but society ruined them. I always just pretend to feel no pain but it's useless, I need help but can't show it. I just feel dead inside. I wanna smile but I don't want it to be fake , I want real one .. I didn't realize this video was uploaded 8 years ago but it still has 3M views? Well, this masterpiece is very touching. This song reminds me of when I was in my early teens, the best time in my life when everything was good and the time I felt love for the first time. I'm sure the childhood of the 90s and 20s was very enjoyable because we lived a modern life but were not tied to computer games and we spent our days playing together outside the house and of course, touching the grass. When I listen to these kind of songs. I can't just stop crying because I remember my past days. I got bullied a lot, and physical abuse by my classmates😭😭. Since 8 years old I started to feel depression😭😭😭 but now I'm 13 years old I will stand by myself and don't let everyone take or drag me down anymore. I already suffered past years. And I wouldn't stop crying everynight after I got home from school. But now I already transfered city. I'm already grown up now.

Don't worry that was all in the past. I'm 16 now but to tell you the truth, I was also bullied. No one wanted to be around me, all because I wasn't cool or good looking. I was sad as a kid and never really trusted anyone. I made a friend, he didn't cared that I wasn't "cool" as the other kids, he just was happy to be around. I played with him for what seemed for eternity and grew up with him. As I grew up with him, he made other friends. So I thought, why shouldn't I? During Jr. high I for the first time tried to make friends but I failed badly. No one understood my humor like my best friend, no one thought I was cool. I was depressed but at least I had my friend. Then one day, I tried to talk to him but he ignored me. I got mad and asked him why was he ignoring me? He told me "I don't want to be friends." I was shocked, I wanted to cry, I felt betrayed, stabbed in the heart. He basically left me for his new friends. From that day on I didn't trust anyone. I wanted to commit suicide, but I couldn't, I was afraid. When I entered high school. Everything changed; well not everything. I now made friends, who only care for who I am. People still see me as this unfriendly/creepy, but I'm not. So hear me out when I say this: DO NOT LET THEM WIN. Trust me, you'll meet someone who will care about you and adore you. People judge because they just don't know anything or feel superior than you, but they're not. So please stay strong. God bless you.

BlazingKey ...... that was so emotional and sad to hear I guess we had the same experience. And I'm glad that someone is going to hear me out, cause nobody understands my feelings though..... I didn't told my parents about these things because I don't want them to worry about me and get angry...... and ask me " why didn't you fought back? You're so stupid!". They might scold me........ I'm really happy that someone is going to listen to me. I make friends through social medias and they are from different places......... And I hope you're ok too...... I hope you do well now. This very masterpiece speaks volumes through it's every scale. I can imagine my entire life with my parents, grand parents, uncles, olwn folks, friends, my childhood memories go past by when I listen to it closing my eyes....I feel so intense yet so peaceful when I listen to this.....I miss my childhood....my pre school years...my grand parents....people whom we lost....today I m 40...but....I m lost in my childhood when I listen to this...when life was so simple, people were so kind, trusting....our needs were so little our desires....so...humble yet complete.

I don’t know why I like “sad” music (or what people consider sad). It doesn’t make me depressed just... nostalgic. Nostalgic for all the memories I’ve had. Nostalgic for all the experiences. Nostalgic for the all the people I’ve met. Times used to be different. However, the past is the past and there are new memories to be made. Because upon death, it isn’t money, friends, or loved ones that you get to take. The only thing you get to take with you are your memories.

I found this song a while back, My head wasn't in the best place at the time. It was a problem because my thoughts would race and I wouldn't be able to get sleep, untill I let this play, it was calming. It still very much is calming, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

When I have been listening this song,My eyes got wet.. Remembering my mom who passed away 7 seven years ago. I'm the youngest in our Family and Mama's Boy that's why I really love my mom,. And the sadest moment in my life was I sat in her bed, I Hold her hands and speak very softly even if she can't hear me until she lost her breath. 😢😢😢.. Thanks for this song.. its very nice☺

The winter litterally radiates from this masterpiece :O this is how winter sounds...i can feel snowflakes radiating calmness with its slow paced dancing through the motionless air, slowly covering all of the sadness and worries of everyday life...i can feel the soothing deep voice of my papa, telling fairytales to me whilst i am slowly losing awareness and eventually falling asleep...I can feel everything slowing down to the speed of a snowflake and then blending into a nothingness and yet being everything, losing all of its shapes and masks, unraveling the purity in itself....thank you so much for this masterpiece :) sincerely, Martin.
