SADDEST Road To Travel In The Philippines? (UNBELIEVABLE MINING)

This is definitely one of the saddest places to drive in the Philippines...
Crossing from Surigao Del Norte to Surigao Del Sur is something I have done many times, but I never decided to show any of the unbelievable mining that you can see along the road.
It is pretty sad when you drive for kilometres and see everything smothered in orange and all the vegetation destroyed. But saying that... even the computer I am using right now to type this... it uses minerals from mining. This video is just my journey headed south from Siargao to Surigao Del Sur, crossing by boat back to mainland Mindanao, and heading down the unbelievable mining road to Tandag city.
Just raw, real, and what you will see if you take this road while travelling in the Philippines.

No these are not created by certain groups in Mindanao these created by politicians in Manila allowing these shitery, specially the Aquino administration. That's is why president Duterte wanted to stop all minings in the Philippines but he just can't because he would violating laws. It is very hard to stop because mining laws in the country in quite relaxed and multinational corporations are taking advantage of it.

@@chrishannan3704 Canadian owned doesn't surprise me. Canadian mining companies have a horrible reputation of using bribery and even paying gangs and thugs to intimidate the locals and getting entire villages to move to mske way for mines in developing nations. Even murdering people. That's exactly what Barrick Gold did in Tanzania recently. Some mines were even fraudulent from the get go. Google "Bre X scandal".

Shoutout to DENR. True, mining is legal in the Philippines but the problem is the lack of laws to balance the effect of mining by insuring that mining companies do their thing responsibly towards the environment.

And then it came to these a bare mountain being mined by the rich company and the cost of damage in the surrounding and to the people who live in the area. It’s really sad. Philippines is rich in natural resources. I believe the natural resources belong to all people not only to few rich people.

I've been in tandag, :( no words, at first you thought there was a forest fire, there's smoke that engulfed the whole mountain, then you realize it's an epitome of human greed. The beach does look like a river due to the dust being transported from top to the large vessel below, heart breaking to see that this range could have been a sanctuary of birds or fishes. But we've altered so bad that this will rendered useless to them for how many years :(. This is where we failed to do our job as the protector this planet. :(

Wow Kulas, that's some serious shit you've shown there. I thought that the BP oil spill at the Gulf of Mexico was the worst environmental disaster but this one is potentially more destructive and has definitely already taken its toll on wildlife and perhaps even more seriously on human lives. Those chemical runoffs are well known health hazards and capable of easily leaching into the community's fresh water source and cause cancer and serious deformities in new borns. The BP oil spill was mostly accidental but this one is deliberate disregard for the environment and guidelines on proper disposal of mining wastes. I really hope that somebody would seriously take a look at this and get authorities to do something to stop it. Truly depressing but perhaps deeply concerning and scary that it could have been happening long before.
