There’s a difference between being under appreciated as an artist and not pursuing fame and chart success. Everybody knows and respects Sade but her music is a niche, it’s not overly commercial and she’s also notoriously private and dislikes fame (the woman literally lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere) so that’s possibly why she seems to be under appreciated but she’s not and it’s well known how influential she is. Drake, Kanye & Beyoncé (none of who I personally listen to) but are three of the biggest artists in the world today and have all sighted Sade as a huge influence.
