I always think about my man Bobby that passed when we were kids. He was born handicapped with a heart condition but Bobby ran played and fought beside us like nothing was wrong. I remember I was getting ready for school one morning and my mother told me he passed. I tried to hold it in and be tough then my mother "it's ok to cry baby" I locked myself in the bathroom and lost it. I was only 11 and 38 now but I still think about my homeboy Bobby. Love you B see you when I get there.

Find the movie "The Mighty" - a story like your own. Sharon Stone, James Gandolfini. But the story is about the two boys. Absolutely beautiful.....I wish I could buy it for you to watch. Don't read any reviews, just watch it. You can buy it for nothing. Music, performances......perfection. You will think of Bobby. Do let me know if you see it? Promise

Wow, brother,the way you tell the story it seems like it could have been yesterday that your friend died. It's crazy because that's the way it actually feels sometimes when you think back on things like that, wishing that it wasn't real but knowing that it is. It's just really rough to have to go through.

How you get listening to this song speaks volumes of how a song can touch your heart & spirit. Did you that this sing is about her best friend who died and I read where her family didn't want Sada to perform this song for whatever reason I guess that's why there is NO LIVE performance of this song

So it’s a song about her boyfriend?
@MA7-6585 Жыл бұрын
@@coriejudge8592 No. Actually, Maureen was a real high school buddy and best friend to Sade. But sadly, she passed away. Sade was totally devastated and she painfully wrote this beautiful and heartfelt song, really it’s like a last letter to her friend, out of deep grief. But Maureen’s family thought Sade was commercializing on the loss of their loved one. Not wanting to be misunderstood, Sade vowed to never perform the song in public. In so doing she has respectfully proven her point.

Maybe it’s their way of expressing how they feel but not about hate…maybe it sparks a sadness in them that words will never convey…or maybe we read far too much into a simple gesture. It's about her best friend, Maureen Hutchinson, who died of an asthma attack around 1980. Maureen had been my girlfriend in the 70's.

I always felt this was underrated. Listening to it, I'm reminded of a message in a classic children's book, in which a little girl is told that when she grows up, she 'must do something to make the world more beautiful'. It's implied that this is something we all ought to do, and in our own way. One lady plants lupines wherever she can, and another gives us this song 'Maureen'.

This song means so much to me. The years I’ve spent listening to this song without you, it’s why this song seems to get better, it’s so relatable. I won’t ever have a “Maureen” again, it makes me cry. What a beautiful song to end the album.

I just heard this played on SiriusXM Watercolors. 'Maureen' is one of my favorite songs. I'm so happy that it's still getting airtime. This song certainly deserves it!

0:38 - 0:43 Wow, Sade really goes up, impacts the line " . . . could meet my new friends" with a punch to the gut, to her heart. Throughout, a 'shout-out' to the pianist who beautifully, masterfully, unconditionally keeps this masterpiece 'moving'.

A song , not about sorrow but, about sadness, grevievance and loss. Something, impossible to believe. Somethiing, you lose and can never retrieve , ever again in life. Something, you never saw. Somethiing, so close to your heart, sometthing so close to your life. And, to live beyond that loss is unconceivable, And, you find in time, something, new! But ,, will forget the old. Marion Hunter.
