Lyrics
There is a woman in Somalia
Scraping for pearls on the roadside
There's a force stronger than nature
Keeps her will alive
This is how she's dying
She's dyin' to survive
Don't know what she's made of
I would like to be that brave
She cries to the heaven above
There is a stone in my heart
She lives a life she didn't choose
And it hurts like brand new shoes
Hurts like brand new shoes
There is a woman in Somalia
The sun gives her no mercy
The same sky we lay under
Burns her to the bone
Long as afternoon shadows
It's gonna take her to get home
Each grain carefully wrapped up
Pearls for her little girl
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
She cries to the heaven above
There is a stone in my heart
She lives in a world she didn't choose
And it hurts like brand new shoes
Hurts like brand new shoes

It's usually hard for me to cry, but everytime i listen to this song I tremble, and my eyes burn with the reality of the life i see around me. To every woman or man living a life they feel is out of their control. You will survive. We'll survive together.

I believe she a Angel also sorry iam answering your response now but I just saw it now. But your so right she is a actual real Angel made flesh god. There too many things point towards that. Which indicates that she is from her voice her singing her band her songs her lyrics her personality the way she is all of it is flawless perfect. Just like god. She envokes power sadness. She uplifts motivates overwhelms rattles and raptures your soul and your senses makes feel very spiritual and bliss at the same time. She extremely humbled and passionate all of it are characteristics of a Angel!!! So yes I agree she is a real Angel !!!

She’s definitely an angel. It dawned on me when I was watching her video where she rides a horse and she’s dressed in all white. She rides that horse so effortless and fast, it’s unbelievable. Ya but there are many reasons (including the choice of her lyrics) that can lead one to think she’s an angel.

Being completely honest, I remember I didn't like the 'hurts like brand new shoes' line the first time I heard it. I loved the rest of it, just not that one line, I thought it was kinda lazily thrown in there. After listening a couple more times, I then interpreted it as showing the contrast between two different worlds. For many people in a first world country new shoes hurting is horrible, but ultimately just a first world problem. The woman in her song is literally struggling and dying. Just like she says the same sun we lay under is burning her to death. That contrast is so amazing, and she puts it into words in the perfect way. This song is just so beautiful, and Sade is really an angel. This moves me so much.

Don"t know how old you are.But even in the usa people related pain to wearing new shoes not broken in.Besides being the best song of hers to me and that line also catching my attention, there is even more to this song.Glad she"s on this earth the same time as me and her talent had to come out instead of being hyped up.She is under rated and i have heard a lot of her.Just like Teena

I don't think there will ever be another artist like Sade in our time. She has her own style of music. All of her songs our created just for her voice. It's hard for other artist to sing her songs. She's in the league of Micheal Jackson, James Brown and other legendary singers. They all created there own style.

connie love hey you guys, Justin & Mila, Sade in the early eighties videos, was in her early thirties and she was soooooo gorgeous and almost perfect that she became the most beautiful woman on the face of this earth :) SEE Sade SDSU 83 She's was a Princes dressed in white, then and now, she's become The Queen of Smooth Jazz. Sade a legend in her life time. Sade's live concerts sound better than her own albums! She looks even more beautiful, if that is possible, in person than you can imagine... Her voice, her dance, her mannerism, her smile, the sparkle in her eye, her booty on and ON! Sorry lost control :) On second thought, Sade, is perfect, possibly more than perfect.

Tyler S. Lady Ga ga Mikey Cyrus and so many others (: selling there flesh there souls no dignity no class much less style (: No sense what so ever of who they are and they could be as human beings (: and as singers or future vocalists and no real message too give at all (: very very very sad ): But thank lord for your blessing of Sade your Angel sent us too deliver us into your loving arms and heart (: You couldn't have sent a better song bird too relieve us our suffering and so easy our pains (: Thank you God Always for this gift of this Angel who we call Sade (: and are proud too have her as our vocal Queen and Goddess (: There will never be another like her (: Sade the song bird or Angel of life (:

Haunting, soulful. And that wail! As if she's crying out to God for all who suffer. Sade is unlike any other!

Words do no justice to this song and the artist singer SADE, it's more powerful than any individual word I can think of to describe the song and her. Time is silent but we are always aware of its presence; except when I listen to SADE. Time vanishes and feels so good when it does, when it does, indescribable.

I went through something very traumatic at 18….and I associated it with this song in 1997. I finally made peace with this song last year and was able to hear it for the first time since then. It was the only Sade song I couldn’t hear. It’s now a peaceful quiet part of my past.

Wow this song right here. There are times when I can't stop playing it. It keeps me properly adjusted to understand my purpose in the world and what we should be striving to live for and change the world to (a better place for so many unfortunate, struggling people, who feel like they have no one).

When she hits the helluah part as shes finishing the last note you can see just for a moment atleast this is my opinion a glimpse of her soul tresending in and out of her and a small silluette of wings behind her. She is and has always been.a real Angel from.heaven. just like god has always been and always will be god! Theres no doubt in my mind that god had send her or she fell out of heaven and landed on earth. Her purpose is too reach the hearts nd souls of humanity all over the world!!! She disappears every now and then too her daughter, too her love life with her man and most importantly too god!!! Then returns Iback too the world too rapture it again in gods name!!!! This women this so special beautiful being is the most beautiful Angel probably the most beautiful in heaven and in her whole being . Her heart is love spirit that pours like a river onto our hearts and souls like no other!!! Sade our Angel of heaven god bless us with you always! Everything about you is beautiful gold too the soul. So when I say that Sade is the best is because she truly is exactly that!!!!
