Before practicing this song I had to take a step back close my eyes and think of women who were abandoned by their husband's struggling to keep ALL their heads above water. I think of my mom who took care of generations of kids. I am a New Yorker so I think of the homeless people especially women with kids. Then I move forward close my eyes and start singing the song. I gotta tell ya this song puts me in a meditative state. I don't open my eyes until the entire song is over, and when I open my eyes, I feel like I just got back from a trip from Somalia.I think the word is transcending. I walk everyday to work in the heat and I play this song.
