Maybe it also works the other way around. Materialistic life as living forever: because then is does not matter having or not, because you will live forever. Spiritual life as if die today: the only valuable thing to have is the spiritual, you come and go with nothing in this world, so living spiritual everyday as the last day of your life may make a difference.

You must take care of yourself and body because without life there is no spiritual path either. But other than that there should be no connection.

So if you are working everyday for something materialistic let’s just say retirement( saving money), you work like it’s your last day!!! Makes me feel a bit desperate more than anything else. I’m thinking you need to find a balance ( between spiritual and materialistic)more than labelling what your last day for something so important should look like!
