0:15 Bonus item: ⏰Choose a pleasant/gentle way to wake up (not a blaring alarm) 5:35 Summary list of these 5 things: 1:57 🛑🍽 Stop eating 3-4 hours before bedtime. 🚰💧 Only drink water after that 2:19 🚿 Take a lukewarm shower 15-30 minutes before bedtime. 3:33 🪔 Then, in the bedroom, Light an organic/cooking oil lamp with a cotton wick. 4:03 🧘🏻♀ Then, Sit on bed doing yogi practices: meditate and/or chant for a few minutes (up to 30 minutes depending upon when you got out of the shower) 4:15 🛌 Extinguish the lamp. Get into bed and spend 12-15 minutes thinking repeatedly until you fall asleep: (Inhalation) "I am not this body" (Exhalation) "I am not this mind" This is to remind yourself that your cells are transient because they are continuously being replaced/replenished. In other words, you are constantly being transformed into a new person. ... I remember things better if I take notes (mostly because I have to replay the video repeatedly). This is my interpretation and it could be wrong. Therefore, please watch this very short 6-minute video to make your own interpretation. This video is pieced together of various clips, resulting in a lack of flow and cohesiveness. I hope my interpretation filled in the gaps properly.

You write the whole summary of this video. Interesting, i learn much more from your writing than video. Also you give time stamps which is also better. Try to update your self everyday. We are the byproduct of everything we do everyday. Try to be a yogi not a bhogi. When you are a bhogi you think about how you will be served by others, but when you are a jogi you serve others what you have without a single expectation. It's your willingness to be the best version. You are not mind and you are not body. You are the soul.

I was watching another video about sleep from a guy who become a Buddhist monk in Thailand a couple of years ago, and he was saying that he used to have problems falling asleep, that he would think about what he did during the day that was wrong or needed to improve, and how to solve the problems. His mentor said to him to not think about any of that, but to "fall asleep in an ocean of merit." By that he meant focus on the good that you did only, feel good about your accomplishments, and go to sleep feeling with positive energy towards yourself and your life. He claims that it solved his sleep problems and now he sleeps well. Makes sense . . .

I feel like that is easier said than done though. That’s basically saying, “Just don’t worry about it 😃” to someone who is worrying about something :( but I do agree, you should focus on the positives instead of the negatives or the things you did “wrong”. Thinking negatively never helped anyone, especially at night. I try to listen to meditation/ASMR videos every night where they say positive affirmations like “You are amazing. You are strong. You are beautiful. Everything will be okay.” Etc. Because I feel like if I go to sleep hearing those positive reassurances, it calms me down, its nice to hear good things about yourself, and maybe subconsciously you will start to believe these good things about yourself and your self-esteem will go up. Or that you will start manifesting more positive things for yourself while you sleep.

I love how he says “You can incubate a lot of either positive or a lot of negative things while you sleep”. Something that helps for me is I try to listen to meditation/ASMR videos every night where they say positive affirmations like “You are amazing. You are strong. You are beautiful. Everything will be okay.” Etc. Because I feel like if I go to sleep hearing those positive words, it calms me down, its reassuring, its nice to hear good things about yourself, and maybe subconsciously you will start to believe these good things about yourself and your self-esteem will go up!! Or that you will start manifesting more positive things for yourself while you sleep. For me, it’s a nice distraction otherwise I start overthinking. I definitely want to start saying affirmations daily in the morning, I heard that helps a lot to feel more confident and happy with yourself. But listening to the positive affirmations at bedtime I think has helped calm my nerves for sure:) Sleep well, everyone!

What’s interesting to me is what I’ve discovered about waking suddenly at 4am - that’s the perfect time to meditate and pray. In the West we hear that 3-4 am is the _Bewitching Hour_ the time when demons come out. But in the East it is called the _Ambrosia Hour_ - the time when conditions are ideal for prayer and meditation. How you look at it is how it will be.

I take a shower every night when I get home from work. It helps my mental well-being to feel renewed and relaxed. It’s also part of my routine. I’ve learned routines are important. Do the same thing every night and when you wake up. Go to bed and wake up at the same time, have your coffee at the same time etc. Makes a world of difference.

DON'T LIGHT AN OIL LAMP. 2 reasons - if you close the door, you can have a buildup of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, which is EXTREMELY dangerous. Lowered blood oxygen levels can lead you to have neurological problems, and Carbon Monoxide toxicity can cause death. Furthermore, and this is true especially if you live in a wooden house, the oil lamp may get distrubed causing it to light your house on fire. So please do not use an oil lamp when you sleep, it pollutes your room and is a very dangerous fire hazard. Anytime you have an open flame, it *must* be supervised.

you can link that mantra with your breath, which is both a voluntary & involuntary action, if you take control of it for a few minutes while you drift off, then you'll fall asleep faster and your dreams will be more vivid

He's right about taking a shower before bed time. I fall asleep immediately and sleep like a baby. Now, if I can only follow the other four things. If I do, do they have to be taken in gradual steps? I'm concerned about lighting a lamp for safety reasons.
@RightQuesti0ns03 жыл бұрын
Lighting an oil lamp every day, morning and evening is part of Indian culture. It is said to have benifits like better eye sight, just by looking at it for 2 minutes a day, increasing concentration, peace of mind etc. If you are concerned about the safety, you can buy a lamp cover which is usually glass and open on the top. That helps.

I do this thing where after laying down I count from 100 to 1 (backwards) slowly. I think that with each could I'm becoming more and more relaxed. Kind of like going down the stairs...the more I go down, the more dark it gets, the more relaxed I get and the more I fall asleep. This really works. If u try it let me know...❤️

1. Eat 4 hours before sleep 2. Shower 3. Light an organic candle 4. Chant or Practice Yoga 5. Know yourself to be beyond body and mind We need to dig deeper into each to understand the importance and essence. For example Shankaracharya's understanding in the Atma bodha on the oil lamp to understand the true self is fundamental to know our nature is that of a conscious witness (in awake state, dream state and deep sleep state). The lamp shines it's light on all thus awareness happens from the lamp outwards and not vice versa hence the significance of the lamp. Hari Aum
