Not necessarily....who was Moses' spiritual father? None. Who was Elijah spiritual father? None. The bible just starts off as " Elijah the Tishbite". God can call you out without being under any spiritual authority or covering as you've seen with Moses and Elijah, and even Melkizedek. When you receive impartation or come under spiritual authority you're known as Benjamin (the meaning of Benjamin is son of my right hand). No portion of Scripture is of private interpretation (can not be applied or understood, only in isolation), hence the need to balance scripture with scripture, and truth with truth. There are 3 kinds of Prophets: Amos 7:14 1. Those BORN -Preordained from heaven. E.g. Elijah and Jeremiah 2. Those CALLED (some of these may later receive more impartation and pursue further training from established Prophets) - E.g. Moses, Amos 3. Those who TRAINED under Prophets (Sons of Prophets)- E.g. Joshua, Elisha It is worthy to note that, Greatness of a Prophet as regards manifestations and demonstrations of power IS NOT determined by any of these things. My dear friend that scripture is not interpreted correctly - Firstly Paul refers to Timothy as HIS son in the faith by clear implication he was claiming to be his spiritual father in the faith. Also consider these verses: 1 Corinthians 4:15 "For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel" 2 Kings 2:12 Elisha saw it and cried out, "My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!" And he saw Elijah no more Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces. If your interpretation is correct than Paul and Elisha has sinned this of course is not so.

The issue of 'spiritual father’ appears simple, but in fact, it is so confusing, especially when given a certain connotation. Yes, the holy Scriptures establish the principle of bloodline and/or genealogy, when referring to Jesus as son of David. We also know that blessings or curses can pass from a generation to another. But I am reminded as Christians that, we often refer to one another as 'BOEN AGAIN'. This birth is not physical, but SPIRITUAL by and/or through the HOLY SPIRIT. Every spiritual birth as Christians, is made possible by the Holy Spirit. I hold that this concept is perhaps misused here. We could have many mentors but ONE SPIRITUAL FATHER in the person of the Holy Spirit (because He is one with the Father and the Son). No human being can SPIRITUALLY give birth to another and claim to be HIS SPIRITUAL FATHER! I do regard highly men of God such as Pastor Alph Lukau, Chris Oyakilome, Benny Hinn, Shepard Bushiri, TD Jake, Hubert Angel, TB Joshua, Renard Bonke and many more... Indeed they are MENTORS to many. But I would STRONGLY disagree with any one of them who claims to be a SPIRITUAL FATHER of another fellow Christian. As Christians, we are reminded that everything, every concept MUST BE EXAMINED IN LIGHT OF GOD'S WORD, even if preached by a famous or a well-known man of God, The theology of SPIRITUAL FATHERHOOD is NOT biblical. Recently, the concept of SPIRITUAL FATHERHOOD has been misused by prominent preachers, who portray it as some kind of spiritual senior title, high ranking or elevation/higher position. Titles and personal name of some pastors have simply become HIGH-END BRAND and MARKETING TOOLS. It is interesting to note that some none biblical titles and branding techniques are used to either show seniority or for marketing purposes, such as MAJOR-1, GENERAL, CAPTAIN, BAZZOKA, FORENSIC PHOPHET etc… Observing properly these trends, one realises that 'the title' SPIRITUAL FATHER falls in this category and is explicitly been used to SHOW SENIORITY. Some would say, it is another way of boosting about, expressing pride, high position, high status! Maybe if we could use the term 'mentor' instead of 'spiritual father', we could have less confusion. In fact, it is the appropriate term to use, in my view! In concluding, I hereby assert that no person in flesh and blood can be my spiritual father. No one! If here on earth, ON THIS PHYSICAL REALM, one can only have ONE BIOLOGICAL FATHER, how could it be possible to have MULTIPLE FATHERS in the SPIRITUAL REALM! Our FATHER in heaven is a FATHER to all of us. He is NOT a GRAND-FATHER or a GRAND-GRAND-FATHER to some! Hence, no elder, no evangelist, no pastor, no bishop, no prophet in the world can be my spiritual father. Those matured enough in the LORD can perhaps be my mentors.

Wilma Swanepoel why would Moses need a spiritual father when it was he who received the original calling from Yahweh himself? And some people are condemning the idea of spiritual fatherhood yet Paul speaks clearly of it not only in relation to Timothy who was his apprentice in ministry, but also to the Corinthian church of whom he said, though you have many guardians, yet you have one father in me as I begot you through Christ. Meaning it was he Paul that had led them to Christ and shepherded them. And Alph Lukau is simply explaining where his mantle of ministry originated, that it was through the ministry of these guys serving God that he too got called to serve. Is that too hard to explain?
