PlayStation State of Play Announced! Spider-Man 2 DLC, Marvel's Venom, and More!
The wait is over! All the insiders were right; the PlayStation State of Play 2024 was just announced, and all the Spider-Man 2 fans just webbed all over themselves. What it do, Durag Nation? After months of speculation and reports from leakers, the big day is finally upon us. For the second year in a row, Sony will broadcast what has become the biggest event in gaming since the death of E3. The PlayStation State of Play is set to be the biggest yet since 2021, focusing on first-party games and exciting new announcements.
Sony's latest live service game, Concord, is guaranteed to make an appearance. We might also see updates on remakes like Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater. Bungie’s new IP, Marathon, and The Final Shape expansion will also need to justify Sony’s investment.
Insomniac Games is expected to dominate once again. Marvel’s Wolverine might get a new trailer, despite its release being pushed to 2026. Fans are also eagerly awaiting Marvel’s Venom PS5 trailer, rumored to be in development. The Venom spin-off game has been highly anticipated, and we might get a glimpse of Marvel’s Venom gameplay and trailers at the PlayStation Showcase.

The thing is, this was actually a big state of play. New Astro Bot game, God of War Ragnarok PC port, awesome new IP Ballad of Antara, Consoles port of Marvel Rivals, Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay trailer, Silent Hill 2. It's just there is a section of the PlayStation fandom who think any event that doesn't have Insomniac sucks because they don't play other games.

I’d temper your expectations a little. It’s only a state of play so don’t go expecting big new announcements like Ghost 2 and Venom. Sounds like Concord and maybe the new Astro Bot game will be the big games of this show. Although Spiderman 2 DLC is very likely.

Just because it's a online service game doesn't mean you can compare Concord to Helldivers II. They are completely two different games sold in their own way. Helldivers II is an original game that has its own vibe and feel that doesn't copy any other game or push anything that would make the players uncomfortable where Concord is a complete replica of multiple other 5v5 heroic shooter games while strongly pushing DEI that's strongly popular to be hated on.

Aside from Spider-Man 2 DLC which would be the one thing that will get me hooked back into some Spidey action once again, I would like it if Iron Man VR got a native PS VR2 port and maybe a non VR mode as well so more people can enjoy that classic, that State of Play did reveal that PSVR2 games will be shown, so new titles along with ports of previously available VR games on Sony's new headset would be a solid win, heck even announcing backwards compatibility with the OG PSVR titles on it's successor would go a long way.

Idc what anyone says it’s legit all the hackers and some of the leakers faults for getting some games canceled, we legit was gonna play a multiplayer Spider-Man game that also had a playable venom in it. You should care because that's just not correct at all. The only reason we even know the Spider-Man Live Service game was canceled is because of the hack. Most games that get canceled we only know about either because an insider revealed it or somebody that worked on the project leaked it because they wanted people to know about the work the devs did.
