Oh my god even this food is eaten in south india also. I am from karnataka (which is located in southern part of India). It is traditional food of karnataka, in Karnataka we call it as "Ragi mudde" you can google it and check. Almost 90% people in Karnataka eat Ragi mudde, we prepare it from finger millet flour and we dip it in sambar (Indian traditional sauce made with vegetables, daal and spinach) and swallow it instead of chewing. In our home daily night we eat ragi mudde and in rural areas this is most famous food. It is also eaten with chicken, mutton and fish curry also.

History shows that millet originated in India. Probably Indian traders brought the grain with them.
