Symptom - Saeco Incanto Deluxe Espresso Coffee Maker was pumping very limited amounts of water and the pump had gotten extremely noisy.
NOTE: UNPLUG MACHINE BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY WORK
This video walks through taking apart the machine to fix the problem. Since some water was coming out under pressure, the pump seemed to work, so likely cause was an obstruction in the intake water line.
You will see in this video that the intake water line passes through a flywheel water flow sensor (a "Hall" sensor) that uses a small magnet attached to a flywheel to sense water flow. There was a small amount of black substance, (perhaps carbon from the water filter in the reservoir) that was stuck in the inlet hole for the water flow sensor. Once that was removed and the machine put back together, all worked well.
Obvious question would be why there was no error message if there was not enough water flow through the water flow sensor. I don't have an answer, and I did not attempt to assess if the water flow sensor is actually working. That said, perhaps just enough water made it through to satisfy the sensor.
There are perhaps not many of these machines in use still, but I hope this video encourages others to take apart their machines when they have problems and follow similar troubleshooting steps. They are pretty straightforward machines mechanically as long as your electrical components are working.
