First of all he is still an Iranian - He just said in an interview that he considers himself first and foremost an Iranian. After putting up graciously with the stupid Iranian regime's dishonest and hypocritical policy of not competing with Israel for ten years which robbed him of so many medals, he finally decided to leave Iran against his real love for Iran just to be able to pursue his dream of being a fantastic Judoka and have a happy life. Unfortunately my country of Iran has lost so many talents in sports, arts and sciences.
