CL! Soo good. I saw the little smirk he gave her during their harmony. Such a fanboy. And for those of you complaining the only collabos that actually allowed the artists to stand out was when GD&TOP performed Oh Yeah with Jimin and when MissA performed BGGG with Lee Hayi and when Epik High performed with the Finalists last season. Don't blame the artists. The fault is really on the contestants. They need to find a way to make themselves standout. Sure this guy is good, but in the presence of a group that already has an overpowering presence, he could've done something more to leave a mark. Especially when there's already been an acoustic rendition of Lonely. He should've instead tried to do one to another song.

I haven't seen all the collabs but, that one with SNSD (I forget which members) where they sang Lady Marmalade was SOOOO unfairly unbalanced against the contestant that she couldn't have stood out if she tried. This was very fairly distributed and they even added parts that aren't in the original to give him a chance to shine. He just...didn't. :/

HereIsHelena the one with Taeyeon, Tiff and I think it was a Jessica was horrible. Other artists did their own songs but only they did their Lady Marmalade routine from their tour. Since it wasn't their song you would think they would be able to change it up so that Baek Ahyeon could stand out, but they just used as an excuse to show themselves off instead. Again, even if the guy would've had more parts in this, his rendition still wasn't good. He should've done something like In The Club, Missing You, Hurts, Falling In Love, Do You Love Me, I Hate You, Ugly... The choices were endless. 2NE1 is a group with a ton of great songs to choose from and he chose one that's been covered by hundreds in the preliminary round. Besides being able to perform with the girls themselves, he did nothing special that no one else could've done.

Elle Gee I looked it up and it was Tiffany and Taeyeon and yeah, they just made it about themselves. GD&TOP made it about Jimin giving her lines Bom doesn't have in the original and, although it's not my favorite, Miss A made that whole performance about Lee Hi. I don't know if I agree wholly. You're right, as I said, that 2NE1 crafted the performance around him (as they should) and he basically just fell short but, I wouldn't blame the song. I mean, I didn't watch the preliminary rounds but, I liked the stripped down version of this song and I think it could have worked well. He just fell flat (quite literally during some parts). For instance during the beginning and end when he sang the chorus all by himself he was very breathy and even skipped syllables entirely. Could be a stylistic choice (a la CL at the end of "If I Were You" which I also think is a mess, just her end bit, half the time. Sorry, CL) gone wrong. When 2NE1 sings the lines that alternate with Dara's part ("I don't know, I don't know...) it's usually much more powerful to cut through her soft tone. I watched another video and he's capable of that, he just didn't deliver here. Thinking of 2NE1's catalog my next song choice for this collab would be Falling In Love Reggae Version though splitting it would be difficult (and apparently everyone but me and I guess you hates that song. LOL). In the Club might have worked. They've done a version of "It Hurts" with a guy that could have been good to use but, it's a pretty difficult arrangement. Missing you is a bad choice because of the harmony section at the end. The others I think would just be too difficult to adapt. One or two people alone with a guitar maybe, but not with 5.

HereIsHelena I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Lonely just that it's been over used in every season of every competitive singing show in Korea. Missing You could've been rearranged the same way lonely was rearranged and the harmony at the end could've also been rearranged so that it could be him and Bom or even him by himself. In the end we know that they can do it, so they don't need to because it's about him not them.

Elle Gee Like I said I don't watch other (really any, to be honest) singing competition shows in Korea. I just think the harmony in Missing You makes the song. I thought about making it him and Bom when I posted my last comment but then it would be about Bom and not him because I don't think he can hold his own in that pairing (as seen). If it's just him the song loses it's punch during the last line. I don't believe they usually sing that harmony live anyway... Missing You also would have exasperated the being overpowered by all of them problem in addition to being a much more difficult song in general. I'm sure doing Lonely was a conscious choice actually. It's easily the easiest ballad in their catalog.
