I don't know her at all, but I have spent many years volunteering to take care of animals in various settings and places. Those animals have great affection for her and trust her implicitly, and it's also obvious that she care about them deeply as well. Why do you have a need to believe the worst of people ? How old are you that you still trust the government ? State and local government officials abuse their power just as much as the federal does. I'm expecting us to find out that the "smuggling" was them transporting animals to somewhere they could be taken good care of. Either way, I give people the benefit of the doubt until the evidence against them is revealed. Prosecutors have lied in the past to get innocent people convicted of murder, there are definitely unethical ones that would do the same in a case like this. I think it is likely that somebody involved in this seriously pissed off the wrong person, someone rich and powerful, and this is retribution. Maybe I'm just hoping that is the case because I don't want to believe that this family has secretly been abusing those animals all this time, years and years. If they were there is no way that the animals would interact with them the way they do, abusing big cats and then taking them out of their cages would get you killed. Hopefully the details will be made public soon. If they are guilty then may all of them burn in Hell, but if they are innocent then many people, including you, will owe them a big apology.
