Fresh Pepper hey fresh I'm from North Carolina and I live in. a HUD provided house worth $370.87 that's worth the great bargain and I'm only renting some of the time. the only apartments I can get near los Angeles city college ,which it is. on the west side but not too expensive is Roslyn apartments on main street. but you mention Glendale where the oringinal Glendale music academy and of course beautiful downtown Burbank, thinking doing producing engineering and music technique, editing and directing commercials and films in Berkeley USC.

Helpful video! I have been to all the places you mentioned at one time or another. I think the reason many people like LA, is the nightlife, restaurants, and architecture. Do they move there for safety, not sure. The "safest," place is kinda relative too. What might make one person feel safe, might put another on edge. If you are thinking of moving, best to always contact the sheriff's department, for the neighborhood you are looking, and the check out their blotter. You can find out all sorts of unbiased information on a city, a neighborhood, even a block, or an address. It pays to do a little research. The next step would be finding a realtor to help you narrow your search, based on what your criteria is. Knowing an area is important, so you want someone who knows the area you want to move well, as a long time resident. I reside in and specialize in the South Orange County area, so I know where to find places within a desired budget, and where to look.

I'm in DTLA. My office is also downtown, which makes commuting a breeze, and you're right, it almost has an NYC feel to it. (As a former New Yorker, that was important to me when I first moved out here.) I lived in Koreatown before making the move to DTLA - I did NOT like it. I don't know where I'm moving to next, but I will surely NOT return to Koreatown. One last thing - I have never heard anyone pronounce "Los Feliz" like that, hahaha! But it's all good. Great video, my man. Very informative and on point. Cheers!

This all depends on your lifestyle. If you have a family with younger kids/high schoolers it is better to live in the nice clean suburbs, with a lot of parking, a lot of parks and open spaces. Honestly, Glendale and Burbank is super safe with a lot of open spaces and parking. North Glendale (La Crescenta/La Canada) is like what you see in the movies in terms of suburbs. Pristine clean streets with no crime and nice middle class homes. Also, most of the San Gabriel Valley like Pasadena (not West Pasadena), Arcadia, Alhambra, Monterey Park are all good areas for families. The school districts also are high ranking. San Gabriel Valley has a lot of Asians and Asian restaurant/businesses. But in general, wherever there are a lot of Asians in a city, they tend to be quieter/cleaner/better districts. If you are young and care about the whole night life, bars, clubs, then I guess it's better to be near Koreatown, Downtown LA, etc. Those areas feel crowded and busy like New York. East LA and South LA in general are the "hood areas." Sounds mean, but most of those areas are poor people and gang infested. Think of the movie "Boyz in the Hood"..that's South and East LA. The Santa Clarita area is affordable, but again that is more like suburban peaceful living. The san fernando valley is a mix of clean and pretty suburbs or gang infested "hoods."

@FreshPepper5 жыл бұрын
Shawn Osburn I looked into that as well. A lot of safe neighborhoods in LA have an F or D crime score because of petty crimes. The score factors in the volume/frequency of police reports and doesn’t actually look into the types of crimes committed. Hope this makes sense

I watched this video like 20 times before I moved to Los Angeles for a job. Thank you man. I ended up picking Koreatown. Really central and you could be anywhere in Los Angeles in under 45 mins. I wouldn't raise a family here. It is the most densely populated area in Los Angeles. If you find a spot along Western north of Wilshire you can snag parking spots in Hancock Park. I pay 1275 for a 400 sq ft studio (utilities included). Could get a 600 sq ft 1 bedroom for 1550. Stay northwest of Vermont and Wilshire if you plan on moving to K-town. Wilshire Blvd has all the Metro stops and nightlife. I'm planning on making a move to West Hollywood. Cheaper than Venice Beach, fun, and central. 1400-1800 for a studio apt. Really fun along the Sunset Strip.

K-town is pretty affordable but parking is HORRIBLE. If you plan to live there and have friends over tell them all to Lyft/Uber or they’ll be circling the neighborhood for hours lol also a lot of people double park to save spots which is so annoying & if someone is having a bad day they can definitely fuck with your car. AND be careful where you park your car overnight (if it’s on the street) because one day it’ll be there, the next day someone could’ve stolen parts of it or even steal the entire thing. It’s like a roulette game 🤣 & DTLA has a massive population of homeless (skid row) and a lot of people who walk around that are on something 🥴 but a lot of them are really nice if you get to know them! 🤣 just an FYI. Love my people & city tho! 💜

Born and raised in south LA. I’ve lived in various cities throughout South Bay. West side. Valley. Best place hands down. GARDENA. Aka Freeway City. Close to 110, 405, 91, and 105. 20 min to Beach cities (Manhattan, Redondo, Hermosa). 20 min to downtown Long Beach. Transit hub has direct on-ramp to Fastrack. This way you can avoid all the south LA traffic. We get to natural history museum in 15 min. Walking distance to some of the best restaurants in South Bay. Homes are relatively affordable. Schools are eh! But you can always try permit into neighboring Torrance. Fairly safe. Just stay south of Marine and west of Normandie! Good luck!

@amanlizamasha19373 жыл бұрын
I was thinking that too ! 🤔
@danmur27972 жыл бұрын
Yes they are different cities but they are a part of the larger Los Angeles metro. Don't be afraid of living or working outside proper city limits. Cities like Burbank and Glendale and Pasadena among many others are much much closer to LA's historic central core of downtown LA (where it was founded) and where its main administrative and financial districts still reside, than areas much further north like Sylmar or Porter Ranch which are somehow considered a part of the city of LA proper. LA's "proper" city limits are the classic example of gerrymandering and politics in shaping the current city borders. It's a very irregular shape of city limit.
@robertosaraceno2 жыл бұрын
Still , even they are part of the metro the definition of neighborhood is wrong . Barcelona has also a big metro area with different neighborhoods and also cities liken Burbank inside of it .

I'm from NYC and the rent all over is pretty high. People spend a lot of their income on rent. California seems like a different country when I see the videos. It also seems so unattainable unless you know people and have friends there. The weather seems so good. I could never imagine living anywhere, but NY, California, or Florida as many people leave the N.E. because of the weather. I knew one girl who came here from Pasadena for University and her parents had a good living, they owned a store I believe.

...and that's the problem in a nutshell for those living in LA too.

You need a college degree or some type of skill. Trying to live off of "jobs" isn't gonna cut it, cost of living is too high! Take on some debt, get a good/useful degree or skill, then move.

There are lots of great place to live in LA county. You should go check out westchester, Culver City, el segundo, Manhattan Beach, Torrance and lawndale to see if there is a place that you like. Let me know when you’re here in California. I can recommend some good places to eat.

You are the best🤗🤗 I'm so excited to move to LA this summer. What is the best way to find a roommate I don't know anybody in LA? Also an aspiring model, do you think I should get signed with an agency before moving? Thank you very much, you always motivate me 😘
@FreshPepper5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tanzeel, its easier to get an agent once you're already living in LA, but it doesn't hurt to start doing some online submissions now. As far as finding a roommates you can try roomiapp.com/

Some affordable places people never seem to want to move to and are actually pretty safe and affordable are places like South Gate, Downey, Lynwood, Panorama City, parts of Maywood, and parts of Huntington Park. They are also about the sam distance from DTLA as some of the places mentioned in this video.

most of the safe affordable places like the ones you mentioned are only accessible by car and that's the problem as to why people avoid these places the public transit system doesn't really access these places and if it does they shut down really early like about 7:00 p.m. so you've got to have your own transportation to live in the areas you mentioned but you're right they're much safer and nicer I don't know what kind of trip this dude is on because why he lying

What neighborhoods do you recommend if you work in Baldwin Park? Married couple, early 30's, might have kids one day, enjoy hiking, walking outside, farmers markets, walking our 2 dogs, a nice bar or two and meeting new people. Looking for a short/semi short commute to work. Any recommendations? We are from out of state.

South Pasadena or San Marino. Can't say they are affordable, but can say family oriented and safe. A 20 minute commute to Baldwin Park by street.

thanks for the information, it is useful, could you make another video about low income apartments and its procedure? also how to get cheap rent?
@piperhaser5583 жыл бұрын
There's a company in Santa monica called Samo apts. They offer affordable housing in various parts of Santa monica and the process to get approved is pretty easy. I rented from this company for several years and lived in an amazing apartment and it was a great experience. I do know that Samo apts have raised their prices lately but its something worth checking out. There's also an affordable apt building called Rosslyn lofts in downtown LA but these apts are not very nice and kind of in a bad area called Skidrow. (I wouldn't recommend renting at Rosslyn if you are a single woman living alone but I think it'd be ok if you're single woman with a large dog or gun or boyfriend and probably ok if you're a guy)

I don't know if you pointed this out, but when you highlighted Koreatown, those shots are not of Koreatown, that's actually little Tokyo. Just to clarify for your viewers.
