Certainly not the vlog I wanted to be editing but sadly eventing doesn't always go to plan. Happy to have safe and happy ponies back in the barn but this day still isn't one I want to remember. I hope you enjoy guys, sorry it is so short...you'll see why!

This just shows you that you’re not just in it for the prizes. That you actually love and care for your horses and their health. So many top riders treat their horses like they’re replaceable entities and it’s so nice to see a rider of your skill actually care about your horses. Well done Meg 🌻

Just wanted to say that the way you settled her, reassured her, gave her a moment, and then popped her over the upright to finish on a positive after feeling her lose her confidence was so wonderful, and really shows your maturity and sensitivity as a rider. You showed more of your skill and potential in that moment than anything else could have. Deedee is a tremendously honest pony, and you treated her with the respect and sensitivity that she needed from you in that moment. You did well Meg ❤️ (And as a side note it reminded me of when Laragh tripped in that dressage test and you did a similar thing, and the dressage judge remarked how refreshing it was.)

Meg, you are an amazing human and horsewoman. I really don't like how that nasty instagram post has knocked your confidence in yourself. I could never do what you do, and I doubt many others could either, put themselves and their horses out on KZbin several times a week, week in and week out for the world to comment on. That nasty post along with two unfortunate days is an unfortunate combination. There are always going to be trolls and backseat drivers; and I hope you can just see those things for what they are, i.e. usually someone who is very unhappy with themselves and tries to make themselves feel better by tearing other people down. You are not a brat or if you are ;) it would only be in joking around with you mates. You are a kind and considerate young woman who has mapped your own journey and you do it with grace and aplomb. So many people love you and what you do. I hope you can find an easier way to live with the naysayers :)

So much respect for your decision to retire Dee, Meg, and for putting her health above competition. At the same time, I'm really sorry that Chillngton didn't go the way you were hoping - regardless of what people might say, it is still gutting for you after all of your hard work, and it's perfectly valid for you to feel the way you did. Onwards and upwards with your beautiful ponies

Just found your channel recently, and have been binge watching all your vlogs in order (I enjoy seeing the progression of you and your ponies). You probably won’t see this comment, as it’s now two years later, but I just wanted to commend you on putting your ponies’ welfare first! You are a true horse woman, unlike SO many riders who seem to just view their mount as a machine and only care about results. Sadly, I’ve seen riders like that across many disciplines of equine sports, including my own (hunter/jumper in the US). It’s so lovely to see someone like you, who truly cares first and foremost about the welfare of your animals. I’ve seen in your previous vlogs how much time, effort, and care you put into your animals, so I’m not surprised that you made the right decision to withdraw Dee. I love you and your channel so much BECAUSE you prioritize your ponies’/horses’ health and safety. Thank you for setting such a fine example for other horse people. Love from the U.S. ❤

I really love this vlog. Honestly, even though most people say they respect their horses, they don’t show it when it matters. I’ve seen people put tremendous pressure on their horses at events, excessively hit and kick their horses, due to hesitation caused by the horse’s doubt in their rider. But the moment you felt any doubt coming from Dee, you completely disregarded your own feelings about the competition (which, as everyone knows, is extremely hard to do!), comforted her, and then retired. You always seem to know when to push through something, and when to give a little space, which shows great judgement and a true relationship with your horse. I love that you’re completely honest about your disappointment too, because it shows that you adore the sport and competition, but still decided to put your horse, and their trust and respect for you, first. I truly admire you and respect you for your candor.

DeeDee has a lot of the same expressions as my gelding and I could really see her start to worry going into the double and just get more unsure almost with each stride after that, so good for you for making sure she didn't lose her confidence or her trust in you and also ending on a good fence 👏 there's always more competitions and I'm sure she will be dragging you to the fences at the next one with all the confidence in the world! ❤
