This is the best guide I’ve seen so far. The only member I felt it didn’t make justice for is Sunny. Her aegyo is famous but it’s far from all she is. In fact she never pretended for this persona to be anything but fake. She’s one of the coolest, wisest, most resourceful and savage members of SNSD. She also seems to be that strong, loyal and reliable friend everyone wishes to have. She’s not the cutesy little thing she was portrayed to be. I guess Jessica’s ice princess persona could be shown more since she was known for that for a long time as well as her chic and fashionable side (true for Sooyoung and Tiffany as well, queens of airport fashion all three of them). Hyo is hilariously savage, Sooyoung is fabulous and her hairflips are legendary. Seohyun is legit smart and was personally requested by Northen Korean side to MC the joint concert between countries because of her spotless reputation and pure and graceful aura. Yoona is mad famous in China and rich, a queen of expensive CFs and unclogging toilets, the girl got it all. This is not a criticism to this guide as SNSD are many, their personalities are strong and multidimensional and their careers are long and full of everything, so it’s hard to fit in 1-2 videos. Those are just things I would personally add

Nicely written and correct about Sunny. What seemed clear to me from the beginning (from watching GGTS) is that all of them were and are tremendously serious about their craft, but weren't and aren't shy about mocking some of the absurdities of their profession, nor of amusingly and cleverly poking fun at each other. I believe these characteristics, have kept them sane in a crazy business, and made so many people connect with them so strongly,

Absolutely agree! This was a very nice guide, but as a SONE for over a decade, I felt like it left out a lot of the charms that the girls have that keep SONEs in the fandom even now while they're on hiatus. A lot of this was based off of their debut positions and older clips, but I would have loved to see them include Tiffany's incredible career and vocal improvement in America, Seohyun's ridiculous intelligence and her acting abilities, Sooyoung and Hyoyeon's savageness that makes SONEs cry from laughter, Yuri's cooking skills, Sunny saving Taeyeon, etc. They've come so far from their debut days and they keep drawing more and more fans in. It's so hard to explain to people the pride I feel when I see them breaking stereotypes, setting records, and going off to pursue their own interests, and the incredible love and attachment I feel for all of them, but this is a nice gateway for people who aren't familiar with them to get into the fandom. Man, this video and the ending with Seohyun just made my heart squeeze with so much love and nostalgia.

As much as they grew professionally they really don;t appear to have changes personally from when I first saw them together on GGTS. They embody joy and fun (even through very hard work and crazy schedules). I'm not easily depressed, but I feel in the mood for a laugh or to brighten my spirits, I just go to my library of SNSD shows and performances.

Kpop feminist history: they were the only girl group at the time that outsold ALL the boy groups for a long time and even managed to win the Daesang (kinda like the album of the year grammy) obviously they received so much hate at the time cos it was unheard of, sort of like how sales now are dominated by boy groups. The thing about SNSD also is that they managed to gain popularity with the general public and didn't necessarily depend solely on their fandom for recognition or sales, which is super hard for idol groups to do.

As soon as "Dolphin Sica" came up I was like "oh right, better prepare your ears LOL" Tbh during the time of 2nd gen, positions like "face of the group" or "center" didn't officially exist, just "visual". So it's true that SM always putting Yoona in the center for formations, promotions, etc. really invented that Further fun facts for each member: Taeyeon - actually pretty introverted, and she actually disliked their cute concept songs since she felt they didn't suit her Jessica - her philosophy is to "never run, just walk" XD Sunny - the most "charming" member, as she's known to do a lot of extra gestures in the dance (I think one time Sooyoung pointed out how it was her part, but the camera was on Sunny because she was being so extra lol), she even revealed in a variety show that a lot of them she comes up with on the spot! also, she has a fear of fireworks Tiffany - well-known among 2nd gen fans for her and Yuri's long run as MCs together on one of the music shows Hyoyeon - she's such a true dancing queen, that even as a trainee, she was helping the other trainees with their dancing Yuri - her voice has a very unique tone within the group, and she's part of the twins/triplets line with Yoona and sometimes Seohyun, since the 3 of them tend to look alike (especially in earlier songs) and can be hard to distinguish XD Sooyoung - there used to be a joke going around about Sooyoung and her obsession with fried chicken XD Yoona - the CF and drama queen of SNSD (which says something since SNSD were already CF queens as a group) Seohyun - sometimes considered the most "unfunny" XD but she's also the one who loves to harmonize when they're singing

Have you seen any of Yuri’s cooking channel here on KZbin? When they had their 13th anniversary/ Tiffany’s birthday, Yuri cooked French food for Taeyeon, Tiffany, HyoYeon, SooYoung and SeoHyun (Yoona and Sunny couldn’t make it). Yuri is one of a kind. Although Taeyeon is my ultimate bias, Yuri is always a trip to watch and she has so many "gay" moments...especially involving Taeyeon. If you followed translations of Taeyeon's IG comments by Yuri, you would know what I mean. Also when SNSD-Oh!GG was watching their MV for "Lil Touch" it was basically Taeyeon and Yuri fan-girling over each other. It is really hard to know what the sexual orientation is of idols in Korea (and both have had an ex-boyfriend) but a lot of SONEs would say that Taeyeon and Yuri give certain "vibes" with the way that they act and their vocal support of the LGBT communities. I think this is also what attracts girls to Taeyeon and Yuri too. Taeyeon is known to have a much larger female fanbase than male. P.S.S. that "Black Pearl" thing they showed at the end of Yuri is her solo debut song "Into You" -> I love the album too

@@DREAM9_TGTHER The reason that made it believable is because there were some information in it that only became known to the public much later after the 'blind item' started to spread, like that part with the director SYJ supposedly introduced her to and we later find out they actually do know each other because another actress mentioned in an interview that the director introduced her to Yuri. But of course, even if that 'insider' knew that bit of information, no one will ever know if it's the whole truth or just partly fabricated lol

Not surprising, since all three women involved are top celebs at the time and that kind of post real or not will cause trouble. If you look up 'Yuri love triangle' you should be able to see it. If you also look up Yuri's and the actresses' names in hangul, you'll see some korean blogs talking about it so it didn't come from international fans

26:11 tiffany singing rolling in the deep. This is the first time checking out snsd. Before the only gg i like is 2ne1 because of sandara. Well she's really famous here in the PH. Then i saw this video of tiffany singing this rolling in the deep. At first glance i thought it was bom of 2ne1 at the thumbnail of the video so i clicked away... after that i found myself watching all snsd MVs and all their variety show ad fell in love with them.. especially seohyun.. IMHO This is the only Guide you need to see. It unfortunately has some familiar clips that still suffer from their original too-rapid cuts, but the author of this has added relevant footage you won;t see in the older guides. Also nicely organized and very HELPFULLY split into two parts, so it isn't as rushed as older guides are. . As William and Helena have said below, their Variety show appearances allow you to get to know their irrepressible characters. As you are still at the beginning of your SNSD adventure, I'd recommend you start at the beginning, with "Girl's Go To School".---a reality show series that introduced them to the public as they prepared for ( and then made) their debut. Despite some of the staple reality show contrivances, there's tons of interesting, honest, behind the scenes footage, the girls are funny as hell, you see their very hard work and commitment, and there are many touching moments too. I really watch a 50 minutes long reaction video and here's my reaction, can't help it 😆 1. Taeyeon is pretty calm when she's by herself or other people but is completely at ease whenever she's with her members. Has a voice of an angel and the main vocalist all the members can depend onto. 2. Ice Princess Jessica is actually a really caring and dependable person. She also almost never miss a note when she's singing. Has very distinctive voice. 3. Sunny has my favorite voice of all SNSD members. She's also very mature and witty despite appeared all cute and funny. 4. Tiffany is definitely the fiercest when it comes to defending the group from pretty much anything. She's friendly, organized, can appeared as stubborn but very loyal. Her voice is one of the easiest for me to recognize. 5. Hyoyeon is the funniest, the mood maker and the ice breaker. She loves to joke around (specifically with Yuri) but she also work very hard and try her best in everything. 6. Yuri is my ultimate bias, not only in SNSD but in all KPOP related things. I love everything about her, including the extreme second hand embarassment followed by overwhelming proudness that comes as a package with being her fan. 7. Sooyoung is the wittiest, the loudest and the most religious member. She's very fluent in Japanese and act as a spoke person whenever SNSD are there. The fashionista of the group. 8. Yoona is very pure, funny and humble despite being mentioned as the most beautiful, most popular and probably the richest of SNSD almost all the time. The skinniest (like Sooyoung) despite really like to eat. 9. Seohyun is the precious maknae of SNSD. She's very smart, diligent and act more mature than most of her older SNSD member. She's a very stable singer, dependable and pretty funny especially in the later years.

Yuri is my forever gg ult!!! She's so funny and lovely and talented omg She especially shines in the commercial song Cabi Bay for the water park by the same name (in collab with members of 2pm) You could definitely watch her 1,2 step stage (the one they show in the guide) and tbh actually all the other members' solo concert stages they've done as well if you feel like it! I can really really recommend watching Seohyuns Drama Hello Dracula. She actually played a lesbian character there and I completely fell in love with her there. Before I didn't really have an OT8 bias as my ulti is Jessica, but after watching that drama she is definitely my OT8 bias. I get goosebumps just thinking about that drama. I wanted to add something onto this that wasn't related to SNSD, but you saw the boy playing the violin next to Seohyun. That is Henry. He was part of Super Junior-M (now he has left SM too), but I have to say he is a musical genius. I have no idea how many instruments he can play but he is really talented and I think most of us that know SM-Entertainment, believe his talent wasn't highlighted enough in the company. However, he has some good solo work like "Trap". Also before his official debut with Super Junior-M, Henry had a violin solo on Super Junior's song "Don't Don" which was pretty awesome.

That's a good guide!! It showcases their talents and personalities pretty well! I don't know if you have the time, but if you're interested in watching a few SNSD variety shows, for Patreon maybe, or just for fun there's plenty I could recommend. 8:10 : That's funny cause when Twice debuted and I saw Dahyun for the first time I thought she looked sooo similar to Taeyeon. Present me definitely disagrees though lol. 13:05 : I think the author of the video forgot to put a clip, but Naengmyeon (or cold noodles) is the name of Jessica's song with Park Myung Soo. Sorry, but me being a stickler for accuracy: Yoona didn't start the 'center' position thing. Not sure if they started it, but Super Junior who are SNSD's big brother group at SM (debuted 2005) had Siwon as their center. They talked about it a lot in their early veriety show appearances - How Eunhyuk expected to be center as the main dancer, but after seeing photos even he admitted the group as a whole had a more 'handsome' impression if Siwon was in the middle.
