Blue Origin has been flight testing the New Shepard rocket and its redundant safety systems since 2012. The program has completed 15 consecutive successful missions, including three successful tests of the crew escape system, showing it can activate safely in any phase of flight.

There are way better companies than Blue Origin to compete with SpaceX. Actually thinking that there is only SpaceX and Blue Origin is really ignorant. I will say the main competitor to SpaceX is Rocket Lab now, because they steal much of the cubesat industry from SpaceX.

The decision to sent people to space is not up to Blue, I don't believe. They are required to get FAA and other approvals in order to send crew to space from US soil. I am sort of happy private companies need government approval. If not, I can see a lot of companies doing things on the slide just to reap profits and send people up before they are ready. This at least puts everyone on a level playing field.....but does hurt smaller, less profitable companies to get in the game as they do not have long term reserves of cash to conduct all the necessary testing and procedures before final approval. Just look at Dream Chaser as well as others who jumped into the game and finally gave up.

@ok ok What a Blue Oilrig Fanboy you are. Bezos got over 4X the money Elon did for the HLS, and still lost. The protest won't change anything except maybe (a) get politicians crying for more money for Artemis, that will (b) go toward Bezos and Dynetics. NS is nothing but marketing and space tourism. Screw Starship, look at F9 and FH since Bezos started the NS program. There's a huge difference between orbital and "let's just dip over the Karman Line." I'm all for competition, and I'm definitely on Team Space - but you dissing Starship for exploding is weak. Learn the difference between an iterative process where failure is always an option, vs. NASA, Bezos, Boeing, NG, etc. Compare the development timelines AND the safety records of F9 and Starship v. SLS, Artemis, Blue Oreos, and Starliner. You can be happy about what another group does without slagging someone else. And slagging SpaceX just shows how ignorant you are.

I believe Blue Origin´s approach with a separating crew capsule is way safer than the Starship system. After all we have decades of experience with separate crew capsules reentry and landing. Call it old fashioned if you want.

Really, that lunar lander ladder wouldn't be great if an astronaut were to fall from it. It's extremely high compared to the Dianetics Alpaca so could prove disastrous especially when they are wearing EVA suits trying to traverse this ladder. Some of the Apollo astronauts have said they struggled with their ladder which was half as tall so it's a ludicrous design.

NASA should’ve added Blue Origin to the pending lunar mission that was won by SpaceX. They’ve duplicated SpaceX’s reusability and safety protocols to maintain confidence, efficiency, and economy. I hope they’ll still provide lunar landing module design and future space station development.

By "astronauts" you mean tourists. Trying to act like you in competition with Musk when you more like Branson level at the moment. Sub orbital space tourism isn't going to be much more than the latest bungee jumping. And fuel costs per flight vs passenger numbers will mean it will never be a mass market product. Ramp up yr game before you miss the boat.

I bought a Sony Betamax in the 80s along with a Trinitron and a few other Sony products that should have dominated the market at the time but didn't. Sony was Sony's own worst enemy when it came to marketing their products... and that's what I see in Blue Origin. An innovative approach to commercializing space flight that puts safety 1st but also shows some respect for those that have gone before them. Musk just wanted to be the 1st Uber sociopath making money in space by using new materials and production methods to continue doing it the same old way stealing any and every new idea he could along the way like with any other company he is tied to. Whereas Bezos wanted to innovate and perfect the process on his own dime... space exploitation at its finest. The day going into space became about profit I lost interest.
