I heard someone say many years ago that NY City & Yougoslavia were the places they felt at risk. LA is litterally the gang capital of the world, like 500 or so. Holy cow, that LA area sounds scary man. I have heard similar stories of the buses in LA. Good idea to dishevel yourself! That's what spies do. I knew two women who did that in Peru. They bought old clothes at a flea market to blend in after being harrassed when dressed nice. They were of Latin decent which helped a lot.

Great video...Yes I had a scary incident in Cairo years ago but everyone was great and had a wonderful adventures in Africa and the Middle East and safety was questionable at time so I had a sleeve like a foot insole cushion that I put in my hiking boots and it held my Passport, Travelers Check, Cash and Cards and was still comfortable. I figured that if they get to my shoes I am dead anyway....LOL. Thank goodness all was well but it is my secret when I travel and never let me down after 17 Countries! Loved all the reminders about safety while traveling I have seen too many travelers that lost everything and ruined their travels.

your LA story is very similar to mine.
