Last year in New York, I was filming a music video for The Hair Kid, and needed some pop and lockers. I met Ze and he took us to meet his friends. The video is out, it includes footage of occupy movement protesters being arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge moments after filming Ze knock out headspins on the wooden boardwalk!
This is a seperate cut together mash up of what those guys were doing, to one of the tunes they use to break to... These guys are so talented its unreal...
Big thanks to Ze and the crew

I love how music transcends all cultures. This is German music being used in NYC hip hop. I remember growing up in the late 70s hearing Trans Europe Express at block parties.

It is strange to imagine the pairing of German techno music from the 1970's and Break Dancing in the 2000's. But like you said, music transcends, it is a gift that can bring people together in peace. Phoenix, AZ

Being from South Bronx and raised in Puerto Rico exposed me to learn how to breakdance back in 1984; I could hold my own...back then. I'd break my right hip now if I tried it (hahaha!) These breakers, however, have taken it to a whole new and evolved level!!! Breakdancing is being considered as an Olympic event within this decade. I believe that it will be an amazing event to watch.

Breakdance the style of presentation reached its peak in early 1980s and became subject of many movies of the era, but with amalgamation of Kraftwerk hit number this performance has become extraordinary.

@@safetycatch Nice. I'll be honest I was shite at backspins. I was better on my feet - or so I thought. Have to listen to some Ollie and Jerry now.. ain't no stoppin' us..

@@andrereloaded1425 funny I have the perfect pointy spine for back spins but found them so painful! Never stuck with it. Loving the Ollie and Jerry flashback. Don’t spose you knew Frosty and Flashback in Edinburgh back at the Bongo club circa 97-99? Look up The Hair Kid - Android Pop - for the video I was sposed to shoot in a day, it took a day and a half. Concept was he couldn’t dance so to find a dancer. I found ZE Silvan and he took me to meet and film with his friends. Real OG NYC dancers. But that film has him doing headspins on Brooklyn Bridge just as 700 occupy Wall Street crew stormed it and got arrested. So that ended up in the video too. Hehe

@@safetycatch Bangin vid. A mad time to shoot it as well. You're not in it are ya? Really loved the tune through my bassy system and the breakin and poppin was class. An old friend Joe worked at the Bongo Club at that time but I never frequented. I got into raving from 1990 to 1994, mostly Pure at the Venue, and the rest of the 90s I was just getting my head back.

During the early 80's, they were aware of this. Kraftwerk became very popular during the early hip hop years. My brother was a dancer during the early 80's when this album came out.

There Were 6 Samples in the song: Fergalicious’ by Fergie (feat. Will.I.Am) (2006) --------------------------- 1. ‘Supersonic’ - J.J Fad (1987) - (Which is the main melody of how the song flows through each verse and chorus.) ---------------------------- 2. ‘Give It All You Got (Doggy Style)’ - Afro-Rican’ (1987) - (Which are the vocals saying the lines: ‘Four, Tres, Two, Uno’ in the beginning & towards the end of the song.) (Also, the sound effects of the silverware clicking on glasses are sampled from this track too) ---------------------------- 3. ‘Night Train’ - James Brown (1962) - (Which is the bass guitar riff used during the bridge of the song.) --------------------------- 4. ‘The Rat Patrol Theme Song’ - Dominic Frontiere (1966) (Which is the violin 🎻 sound/riff used each chorus) -------------------------- 5. ‘It’s More Fun To Compute’ - Kraftwerk (1981) - (Which is the electronic keyboard sound used each time Will.I.Am does his spelling/freestyle saying the lines: (‘T to the A to the S T Y, girl, you tasty, T to the A to the S T E Y, girl, you tasty’) (‘D to the E to the L I C I O U S; D to the E to the’) ---------------------------- 6. ‘I’m A Greedy Man’ - James Brown (1972) (This one is a little hard to catch, but it is the vocal sample saying: ‘Pick up on this!’ right after the Kaftwerk sample comes into play.) ----------------------------

Break Dancing was gigantic worldwide for sure, but what pre-dated it though that I can't B the only 1 who'd love 2 C videos of on here would be the thousands of tunes that Roller Discos played that people created dance routines for? Perhaps it might recreate the desire for the hundreds of fans of this wonderful skill to come back into fashion & at the same time fill up the millions of empty business property spaces worldwide with fresh jobs in new roller rinks?

Actually I didn't recognise the tune and was shooting something else with their help. I liked their dancing so much and had good footage. They had played the tune 3 - 4 times in the 1 hour I was there. I shazammed it and used it as the soundtrack and made the video as a thank you to them for dancing. And because the feel was so right for what they were doing. These guys played great music, on Union Square station subway. And they danced to dance. Any tips were a bonus was the attitude. Some just dropped in for a few moves and then left, but they were the best I had seen.
