Yes , swapping a diet with an older generation quickly puts into perspective what you should probably be eating and the amount . If your working out alot or involved in extreme activity just add a little extra protein . Very small meals plus snacks each day is more than plenty of food . You'll also notice for sweets the older generation will use honey , fruit , peanut butter , ect and make a simple homemade desert instead of eating a little debbie snack. Cuts TONS of calories !

Most folks forget that the elderly often have problems with having an appetite. This youngster is young and able to eat loads of food. The elderly often have digestions that fluctuate from minimal to none. I know this from working with the elderly now.

And then, there's my friend's late mother-in-law who, at something like 107, could eat a whole captain's feast at Red Lobster by herself. Or one of those big manly breakfasts at Denny's. She could have been rich challenging young upstarts to eating competitions. 🤣

It is completely normal for old folks to eat less. The smaller appetite is not an "issue". They are also often not as active and they undergo changes in metabolism. My gran is 80. 10 years ago she started to only have fruit for breakfast. Then she stopped eating a lot of meat and for her a 100g are more than enough at a meal. And now slowly her portions size dereases overall. But she is well and can undergo her daily routine which includes a huge garden and house to care for.

Yep, you see this a lot as a nurse too. Elderly people really don't want to eat anything. It's hard to get them to have anything at all when they fall ill.

@@Haexxchen It actually is an issue if you know anything about anatomy and diseases. Whenever old people fall ill their bodies get much more heavily affected than young people. They lose much more weight and muscle and it takes a loong time for their bodies to recover. This coupled with the fact that diseases last longer in elderly people as well means that it's recommended for them to have a BMI that's a bit higher than the normal recommended BMI. That's a tough one though because they refuse to eat a lot. We've even started thinking positively about elderly having a glass of red wine a day because at least that gets them some calories.

I know you made this a while ago but it popped up on my feed. I just wanted to say I have watched it all and I absolutely love the relationship you have with your grandmother! It’s so precious. I lost my grandmother 4 years ago and I miss her daily! I had the same type of relationship with my grandmother and I love seeing this! Cherish those moments! Video her as much as you can because you will love to look back on this one day! ❤️
