28:28 Pinterest DOES NOT care, unfortunately. I have used the site for years to download coloring images/line art images, and in the past year the amount of AI that has infiltrated the website is crazy. There is little to no moderation of AI on their site, I mean they could be trying but whatever they're doing isn't working. I have to dig hard now to find coloring pages that are not copies or AI. It's honestly really sad because I used to find so many cool artists, but now my whole homepage is all AI or blatant ripoffs :((

@sakutarokun323Күн бұрын
Honestly, pinterest has always been sort of crappy for this sort of thing - it used to be a haven for stolen art reposted without consent with no attribution, and now it's just filled with AI slop. It's a shame, because the idea behind the site is good, but it's sort of always been a double edged sword for creatives. It's definitely not the only site with these issues - far from it - but I feel like its position as the sort of unobtrusive internet darling over the last 10+ years has made people less aware of the problems that have always been there.

Hi! As a seamstress, wrinkly fabric means natural fabrics. When it is not wrinkling, it is usually not natural, or it has been treated with something. But, any fabric will be wrinkly after shipping like that. Unless in a bigger box with a lot of tissuepaper etc.

@@Essefles I've seen people encourage with linen to essentially beat the crap out of it (wash it a couple times, smack it around a bit) when you first get it if it's not comfortable since it softens with age.

@ashrowan2143 oh yes! Babywraps are supposed to be soft. But people usually just tie them into knots over and over again until soft. Might be causing a little less damage, but same principle. Luckily most linen clothing comes prewashed now.

The main thing I always think of is the massive waste of fabrics from these things.. Then it's all just wasted for no reason other than essentially a scam.

Yeah this whole thing makes me uncomfortable honestly. Someone is making these and probably worked on them for days for a pittance. Seeing Safiya demonstrate these techniques is so valuable, and I think a lot of people could benefit from applying similar tactics.

honestly, yeah- showing what they looked out for to identify scam shops is really helpful. When I shop sometimes a store will seem suspicious to me but I can’t really place why that is and showing the method for rooting out red flags is great.
@vixxcelacea27783 күн бұрын
True, but I wish her and others would do something to prevent these ending up in a landfill. Donating the fabric to charities that deal with clothes or maybe doing give aways so other seamstresses who know how to reuse the fabric, or even watchers who actually like the dresses for what they are. It sucks that even if it's educational, this still participates in the very problem of fast fashion, sweatshop labor and over consumption.

It's the lack of symmetry by this I mean the designs on one side are different than the other. Most people making a cohesive gown would want the little details the same. Something AI gens are known for is lack of symmetry to usually a small, but noticeable degree, given how the AI generates things. Even if lighting, shadows and everything else are spot on, usually the eyes are different, or the details on one side meant to be similar are a little off. That said, if a seamstress actually out to make something not quickly, but really good quality, the idea for that dress is super freaking pretty and could definitely be made to a similar caliber as it appears to look. Likely something mathematically is off with the creation, but the overall idea as inspiration for a dress is pretty solid.

I hope Pinterest management sees this. Verification should require more. That's unacceptable from a platform. If they don't have time to take down the fraudulent sellers, they should just be much more selective with who they verify.
@lemonz17693 күн бұрын
Etsy too. There’s so much fake and misleading stuff on Etsy now. I used to shop there all of the time years ago but it’s just too much work to verify every shop for someone casually shopping. It seems more doable on Etsy than Pinterest, where selling things is Etsy’s whole thing.
@debrascott87753 күн бұрын
I am pretty sure they don't care. Anymore than Etsy does that mcuh of their stuff is drop shipped from Alibabba. as long as people click click click.
@Isamarae3 күн бұрын
Most stores won't bother because it takes too much time, which cuts into their bottom line. Also: how do you then 'prove' a small business with one person is legit without tons of verification/paperwork/tests?
@kl69602 күн бұрын
The problem is, they are technically "legit" sellers, as in they sell stuff and send it to their customers (instead of just taking the money). They are using stolen pictures, which is a no-no, but for that to be in any way punished, the actual owner of those pictures would have to report it (and then prove that they are the actual owner). The part where the fraudulent sellers are not giving people the real pictures of the products they are selling is a bit of a gray area, which is why it's so common, not just on Pinterest. Which sucks.
@alicevictoriaball19 сағат бұрын
Hi hi, I used to sell wedding dresses - the fishy smell on the dresses is a preservative spray that the dress is sprayed in. This helps it from getting any damage when shipping - for instance, if it is shipped in a container with other smelly substances, or if something is to spill on it. You just have to hang it in an open space for a day or two and the smell will go ☺️

Same! Last night I was showing my mom some cool fanart pieces on Pinterest and she was so surprised at how mine looked, she said she was jealous😂 I use Pinterest all the time, it's my favourite form of social media. My mom, however, says she almost never uses Pinterest. She proceeded to show me hers and it blew my mind that hers is literally just a bunch of ads and links to purchasing stuff, it is such an un-fun experience to see Pinterest that way😅

Is there any connection between Teuta Matoshi and Lirika Matoshi (Lirika made that viral strawberry dress which sort of has the vibes of Teuta's gowns), or is it just the coincidence in names?

That last dress needs to have a spa day with a boiling pot of black rit poly dye, depending on how it takes the dye a little bit more fabric (like some of the skirt from dress 3 perhaps) added in might make it really cool. The third, needs to be scrapped for parts and the first 2 worn with abandon! chef's kiss to those two! OR, there are some tick tok designers that remake sad gowns, you could enlist one of them to reimagine / smash-up with dresses 3&4.

24:40 oh that dress is DEFINITELY AI generated. TLDR; artist pointing out the notable elements that make this image AI, in case anyone is curious or wants to further understand how to look out for AI generation :) i watch videos while painting, so i didn't notice it at first, but now that you said something, i can 99.99999% confirm. the left foot's ankle doesn't line up with the leg and the green fabric is bundled up weird, the right foot's "toes" don't line up with the rest of the leg, as well as the red fabric appearing and disappearing from existence, similar to the fabric from the back of the dress blending forward over the foot. the leaves on the right of the skirt emerge from nowhere, and they are very very grainy as AI slop tends to produce. most notably, when the mannequin's body goes upward into where the torso should be, only the left leg is there, and the right leg disappears. the layers to the left of this torso-like area do not line up with the lighting and folds. around the hips, many of the leaf looking elements do not attach to the dress, though that COULD be an "issue with image quality". with the sleeves, the tool notably is very unequal and uneven on both sides. also, the flower things coming up from the top of the sleeves do not connect to the dress similar to the leaves from before. most notably, the cluster on the left sleeve has a gap that resembles that of a five petal flower, which the AI could have been trying to create, not knowing it was supposed to be a background color. the mannequin, near the "neck", contains artifacts form where the AI didn't know what to do with the light, and made it grainy and pixelated. the bottom of the top metal embellishment doesn't line up to create an even ovel, wither. all considered, this is SCARY good AI. the flowers and wheat (and even shadows) in the background are honestly really convincing. edited out a couple typos, never been a good speller T^T

That fishy smell is usually amines in either the glue used to hold on the lace or it can also be what they used to seal in the dye. Either way spritzing with rubbing alcohol, 100%vodka or vinegar should break it down
