I now have 26 CD's by Saga. I have been a record collector since 1967. It all started with their first album with How Long and it has never stopped to this day. I personally believe Saga is underrated. Yes. I know they are very popular in North America but I can't understand how come they are not as big as YES and ASIA and other Prog rock bands? And I know not every album is as good as the next album but, What band isn't the same way? I have a top 20 favorite band list. Saga is number #5 one my list. Porcupine Tree is number #1. I just wish they were bigger than they are because their music is just so good. Thank you pilotfish for uploading these amazing albums by Saga!

You're welcome,one day I'll find the time to upload new Amazon links to the official remasters,which sound stellar. As to how are they not doing arena tours : from what I know - bad management

Very solid performance from the band. It sounds like classic Saga, which I love. Definitely one of their top ten albums.

Joe Turner. Your right. "Marathon" is one of those albums you can put on and just let it play all the way thru. I mean "Ian Crichton" is just a Master guitarist without a doubt.

A great album that slipped under the radar. Showing their rock roots with their progressive style!

B-man. You said it perfectly. I mean how on Gods Green Earth can a album this great slip under the radar? I also believe "House Of Cards" does the same thing as well.

This was the first album I heard from SAGA after having lost their trace for almost 20 years... My older brothers had SAGA's first 7 albums in their collection (up to "Behaviour") and I started listening to them when I was 7 years old. These were my favourite albums to listen to. But then, I never heard from them again until one of my brothers found this CD in a mall. It was like finding a treasure! After that I started finding their back catalogue and enjoyed all their albums. It's a pity they have disbanded :(

Saga was on the list of the bands that would play at Sweden rock festival 2020, but as we all know the fest was cancelled because the coronavirus, so the state of things about saga so far is they still play live shows but didn't release a new album since 2014, anyway, if the band will break up in the near future, it will be in a good taste since their two last albums, 2012 plus 2014 are among their best, the album from 2012 reached the number 13 on the german album chart, the band didn't have such a success since 1985, thanks for sharing

I really like some of the guitar work on this album. I'd love to hear what Ian and Steve Hackett would do if you locked them in a studio for a few hours.
@larrylong31003 жыл бұрын
RobinVegas. If Ian and Steve ever put out an album with just the 2 of them or with a whole band, I would pay what ever the seller wanted because you and I both know that the album would be beyond outstanding. My favorite albums by "Steve Hackett" is hard to pick because he has a lot of great ones but, If I would have to pick just 2 of his solo albums, I would say "Spectral Mornings" or "Guitar Noir."

@@pilotfish4171 A band labeled as "progressive" sometimes experiments with new technologies, they already opened that road with "A brief case" almost 4 decades ago. I agree it was an unlucky decision, but I can understand the underlying philosophy. However, I don't agree at all that "Calling all stations" was a very good album, and comparing that effort with a teeny girl band is like comparing the quality of pineapples with oranges. You should compare Genesis albums with other Genesis albums, and in that respect, whatever merits the album may have, it was like a Stuka diving manoeuvre. Singer certainly has qualities, but was the complete wrong choise for Genesis. It's the same with adding the (fantastic) former Bad Company singer to Queen, it just don't fit together. It would be the same if Jon Anderson suddenly would be added to whatever is left of Asia, it simply wouldn't work, because we're so used to the phenomenally fine vocals of John Wetton. John Payne too was a fine singer, the Asia albums under his reign are certainly worth while having, but to me, this are not real Asia albums, it's like another band disguised as Asia.

Has its ups (Marathon, You know I know, Rise and shine, Blinde side....) and its downs. "How are you" is in the second category, it sounds like a guitar solo in search of a (good) song it never found. But this was the second fine Saga album that came out after a series of disastrous experiments in the 1990's, with finally, finally some solid (I don't mean "loud") songwriting again. Then it was time for a new waiting game that finally led to 10 000 days. It should have stopped there, or have ended with some swan songs. In stead we first got a totally miscast new singer (Genesis too once did such a foolish thing, it happens with the best bands) and then two albums to be forgotten as quickly as possible. I'm still daily amazed by how fantastic their very first albums were, and there were some fine moments in the 2000's again, but also lots of albums that should never have appeared: less is often more, here that's certainly true !

Outside of the opening track, this doesn't deliver anything exciting to me. Nothing like the older albums.

I have to reluctantly agree that in comparison to almost every other Saga album I found this to be a major bore.

Marathon, the song, and Worlds Apart are great ... that's about it. The next album, Network is AWESOME ... an updated keyboard sound and a heavier, snare drum-sound. As well, the guitars just crush!

The ballads are boring and some of the rockers are too faceless, but "Streets of Gold" is a forgotten classic.
