Greetings from the the wilds of Northern Ontario Dr.Abramson, great to see you are still working away Mazel Tov. I look forward to watching this video. The Danube is truly a magnificent river and I am looking forward to viewing it from a Jewish perspective. Shalom.

Was it primarily the Tribe of Dan that migrated into Germany and around the Danube? So many places have DN in their name from the earliest times. Dan, Den, Din, Don, Dun, like Macedonia, Denmark, Scandinavia, Sweden, Brandenburg, London, etc…

Was it the Danube that at one point (before modern standardizations of commerce) had 30-something tax tolls along the way that a merchant had to pay?

These regions are not for the faint of heart. My father originates from close by to where you are speaking on. I am glad to hear you actually have an understanding of the complexity of the region of the Danube and Balkans. I actually have questions about whether my late grandmother's family was Jewish in origin but it's so hard to tell just based on last names since she became Catholic based on where she lived. I looked it up and it seems her last name was Turkish in origin but was mentioned in the New testament. Is she descend from the Kazary who were not originally Jews? I am curious. Am actually amazed by how much information there is on your channel. Not expecting answers on any of these questions. Just basically adding to the idea that the region of the Balkans is unmatched when it comes to mixing of cultures originating from ground migrations, conquests, wars (battles) and not so good ol' rape that took place on such a mind numbing scale over Millenia that most people even in the area are loathed to even touch on such a topic. Interesting listening to you talk about take farming. While I'm personally against charging anyone such high rates of usury I see how Jews may not have had much else to turn to. I was also thinking these Nobility were using the Jews human buffers or scape goats when the time came that the gen pop would become unhappy. Thanks for sharing this knowledge with us. God bless you.

How many different monarchies roughly sponsered the 'cameri cambi' [sp] for Jews?

The question about what do you call an ethnic German Czeck-speaker; Geeman or Czeck; an interesting derivative of this question is Coery Gil Schuster on youtube asking Holy Land Arabs in Israel and/or West Bank if Mizrachi first language Arab-speaking Jews are Arabs or not; the responses are interesting.

So was there a kehilla structure amongst Magrebis and Mizrachis centuries ago? I wonder if we could dig up a female Tuvei Ha-Ir if we really looked in a concerted fashion. Maybe if I read my Written Out of History: Our Forgotten Jewish Foremothers cover to cover I could find one. (Im just being hopeful because I so love finding prominent women in Jewish history, and in Hasidic history).

this is a professor at touro college, this is his class and the classes are being posted on youtube to hopefully gain some donations for the class . if you would like to show your support give a donation. as far as a christian studying jewish history be careful, this is how many people have ended up making the conversion. check out rabbi asher meza.

No worries dear Christian. Jews don't try to convert people. Even if you wanted to convert, you'd have to work hard to do it. It's not a question of I believe so I am. This is a history class. No worries.

James, enjoy the channel. This is meant to inform everyone. If it wasn't meant for outsiders, the videos would be posted elsewhere.
