I saw Monster at the Theater in 2003, and she won an Academy Award for best actor. I bought the DVD when it was available. She is amazing and love all her films.

I am so glad that her ballet career didn't work out, her mom encouraged her to go try out 'storytelling' in Hollywood, her check couldn't be cashed easily at the bank, and for that manager dude who stepped in to help out. You are such a gifted actress, Charlize! What a beautiful, humble, intelligent, witty human being this lady is! Obviously, it's not just you who got lucky to get to do what you love for a living, I count myself lucky every time I get to see your amazing performance on screen. Keep it coming, queen

Over the years I’ve ran across her interviews here and there, and my appreciation for her grows. One of the few current working actors out there whom I actually enjoy discovering more about. So many Hollywood journalists stick to the same fluff questions, but this was actually an insightful interview.

38:48 if i could support myself, that was the dream. I thought she is just a beautiful hollywood celebrity, shallow and cheerful all the time. but man, this woman is so real, down to earth, honest, frank and has a deep soul. there are billions of women who doesn't have 1 percent have what she has, yet has million times more arrogance, expectations, self-valuation than this wonderful human.

The only thing I can say , is Totally cool woman! I've never heard a woman use the F*** word so casually, not for effect but you get her point. I'm a 70 yr old dude and if you think I'm kidding about her, check her out on "The Hot One's" Now to me that's what every female should strive to be, independent, be honest, be yourself. Kudos to Charleze!

Her beauty opened up doors but her talent has kept them open. If it wasn't for showing her amazing talent in Monster, her career would be over because she is 46 and thriving in challenging roles. If all you have is looks, you get dropped once you're out of your 20s.

The part where she said " I didn't know he was famous I just thought actors were regular people with this cool job" I'm still there. Lol I can't understand Americans obsession with Fame. Everyone wants to be famous, they exalt people just for being on tv or film. I know who Kim Kardashian is for butt pic, but couldn't pick out the rest of her siblings or step siblings from a line up. Had to ask a friend the origins of the meme of the woman scream at the cat. She said she thought it was a "Real House Wife". It's such a ridiculous concept to me. I mean of course I appreciate a talented artist as I would a gifted athlete, or a writer. But I hold Nobel prize winners, research doctors, great politicians, investigative journalists etc. In even higher regard. Anyone who excels in their field I admire. But this nonsense of no bodies being somebody's because of reality TV is bizarre to me. Even catapulting actors that really aren't very good because of their attractiveness is another thing I will never understand. I mean how did Kevin Costner ever even have a career? He's an average joe that can play the average joe dad or husband. He should've been a character actor that played the next door neighbor. Everytime he took on a role that was even a minor stretch I was embarrassed for him and it was honestly hard to watch. I mean Robin hood Prince of thieves has to be one of the worst on screen performance in history. But Americans made him famous and he was handed parts and leading man status even though he's an average actor at best. Yet countless men and women that excell in their craft are relegated to fringe roles because of their looks. At least Charlize can act but probably would've become leading actress material and become super famous just on her looks. The American fame machine is such a bizarre thing.
