This show, these two actors, and the supporting cast have opened my eyes quite wide. I grew up in the late 60's and 70's with the after affects of McCarthyism and the Lavender Scare. My whole psyche was drilled in and wrapped around what they said gay people were supposed to be. This show truly blew my mind and rocked my soul. In the best kind of way. The pain that gay people have gone thru was lost to me until about 10 yrs ago when a close friend came out and explained the hurdles, the hiding, and the history of what he went thru. He is a great friend and has been happily married to his wonderful husband. I treasure what he has shared with me, and how this show made him feel seen. I believe it was Jonathan who said something once to the point of grieving what young gay people didn't have back then to what they have available now. With two younger family members who just came out, and not with the support of their parents, I want to be the most informed "free mom hug" giver that's out there to help them.
