Kage is a very odd character, with strangely enough *Dan* normals mixed with special moves borrowed from SF4's Evil Ryu, Kage is the most varried Shoto in SFV, which I generally love playing. Design is weird tho, the devil horns, if they're going that route, should've been bigger, and the Boar teeth is just awkward to me.

I think the horns are based on Oni's, the idea being that if the hado takes you over you lose your humanity and become an ogre. Dan was also rejected by gouken because he wanted to learn shoto moves to kill sagat so I believe the idea is that their styles are corrupted by killing intent without having it under control it like Akuma. It's a pretty well considered design overall I feel even if it looks a little awkward in game and I think his costumes remedy that a bit

I think the joke that Kage is what happens when Dan taps into the Satsui No Hado is really interesting. Explains why it’s kind of not as interesting as most Evil Ryu designs. Plus, makes it funnier to imagine that Dan really wants to *be* Ryu.

@@Lexicon865 Yes absolutely. I’m always kind of ashamed to say I enjoyed 4 Poison a little more than 5, because she was just a glorified shoto in that game and that’s not even normally my style. But her fireball shenanigans and her links into her rekkas were so satisfying.

You mentioning that Sagat is called the Emperor of Muay Thai, then explaining he *uses* Muay Thai, made me think it would be funny if someone got a title involving a specific martial art while using an entirely different one. And not in a “we didn’t pay attention to the moves, and called the martial art something it isn’t,” way. Looking at you Ansatsuken users. I mean the person claims themselves, say, Master of Judo, and they intentionally use Wing Chun instead. Not because they’re confused, but maybe because they pride themselves on having never lost to a Judo practitioner. Damn, now the story of the Judo martial artist training to defeat this character to avenge their defeated master’s honor also has potential for a fun character.

The concept of playing them technically is easy. The way you have to 'win' with them differs from character to character. There's a difference between playing and winning with a character. I think Poison is easy to play, but depending on who you ask she might not be easy to win with I think Mika is easy to play, but she's not easy to win with. The characters were rated based on my perception of them (which my view is skewered) so there definitely could have been a reassessment on that part. Trust me, I tried to think long and hard about rating certain characters. Appreciate the feedback though. Thank you for bringing this up 👍

There are some niche (but yet, very important) elements that are being overlooked because these videos seem to be a rather basic "test-the-waters" kind of deal. No mention of Sagats outstanding command normals nor his ability to Kara Cancel (Empty cancel) despite being in the combo footage and really instrumental to unlocking the characters full potential. You dont need to know Kara Cancels to play Sagat, but if you want to get some of those combos off, you need to know of that aspect to his character, especially with it being almost unique to him. You won't find any information about that in-game iirc

​@@HDJammerz I entirely agree man, there are a lot of techniques in this game that requires some nuance to understand. But my grievance in the videos is basically placing the Difficulty of the most of the Characters in this series as Basic. The ease of use on the character isn't in question but considering most of them as basic will confuse most casuals referring to what they want to start with based on the video When I started with SFV, understanding the characters was easy. Started with G (mainly because of Smug) then I wasn't able to get out of bronze because of him. So I changed to Ed, Who was significantly easier. What I'm basically saying is, instead of Difficulty = Ease of Use of this character is basic. I will say something similar to a difficulty scale instead. (Like from 1 - 10 Whip is a 6 based on difficulty of use) Thanks for being able to read my comment though. Love your content

@ignaciojohnjoy excellent point. A difficulty scale would've been better to use and easier to understand. I was just following a critiera and just worked with that. Again, my vision is skewered. Appreciate the feedback!

doubtful. Ryu has expelled the darkness and suppressed the satsui no hado during 5. *Maybe* kage comes back but Evil Ryu is almost certainly off the table

@@solitudeau8188 I dont think that Capcom wont put him in just because he isnt relevant to the story anymore. They can do it as a fan service or most likely a cash grab because he is liked so much.
