Good review, I guess my question is does a 1/2 oz make that much of a difference on reel weight ? Once you add line Tippett sink tip etc . I have over 50 rods and at least as many reels and personally don’t really notice that much of a difference. Is it me or are we just nuts when it comes to weight of rods and reels ? Thanks for the video

Personally I feel like it's just one of those things that gets way, way too much attention. Of course, manufactures love to talk about how one reel is 10 grams lighter than another and then attempt to charge 50% more for a weight saving that is, if we're being honest, totally negligible.

@@Tridentflyfishing I’ve found that drinking 16 oz beers helps me overcome the added swing weight of a heavier reel . The extra 4 oz really helps with the stamina it takes for a hard day of fishing.

Bought one of these to pair with my 8wt R8 Core as my Atlantic Salmon setup. Being that its a similar (if not the same) drag as the Spectrum LT that I also use for Salmon, do you think this reel would work well for Salmon as well ? I figured the large arbor will helpful on those crazy runs ! Any insight appreciated !

Any reel could be a 5wt this is definitely more like a 7/8 wt with a good amount of backing

It not being a fully enclosed cage how easy is it to catch the running line in it 🤔

Would this make a good light/Belize bonefish reel for a 6wt?

It is sealed, but perhaps not as robustly as a designed for saltwater reel. I'd say it's ok for light use, but definitely not for dedicated saltwater use.

And if you buy this and don't have hand or wrist dexterity , sorry I meant to say if you are searching for gear to improve your line pick up and dont do anything to improve your hand or wrist strength your screwed! This is no slice driver or reels! Can't wait to get comments, I have this or that excuse, nothing in life is fair! Gear chasing won't help you if you dont help yourself! PS I'm 60+
