I have this reel model in this size. It appears Sage went for performance and not bling; this reel has pretty much all boxes ticked, but the price is a bit high. I have many other reels, including Lamson, Tibor, and Sage, and this may be the best reel of the bunch. For me, two ounces “overweight” is no big deal; Tibor Everglades and Riptide are ‘heavy’ relative to other modern reels, but they are popular because they are reliable and work. I feel the same about this Enforcer. I like the spool release (thank you Sage for going away from the push style spool release!), I like how the drag adjustment is smooth and the same across the entire range, the ergonomics, the strong frame - this is a great reel!

I've got a bit of kit from sage that I'm happy with but I think I'm done with them now. This will retail at around £600 in the uk (which is about $733). Just like the R8 salt, other manufactires produce better gear at a lower price point. Thanks for the review, informative as usual.

Very good review,as usual but I have a few questions about this reel series. Where is this reel made? What are the drag ratings for this series of reels? There are other colors but they're not shown on Dave's site. Where can I see them? Thanks.

Sage reels are made in Korea. www.tridentflyfishing.com/sage-enforcer-fly-reel.html We have pics of all three color options on the last slide

@@Tridentflyfishing The last slide on KZbin only shows the black option. I just reran the video.

I liked your comparisons to other reels, although your vendors might not. I think reels are like today's fly rods: Any moderately priced product will do the job until an angler is going after GTs, big tarpon or billfish.

There's truth to this, for sure.

We were able to get far more than that on the Enforcer!
