Yay Sage! I grew up with a black poodle . He was friendly, smart, and hilarious. He loved kids. My absolute best buddy on the planet. Poodles can be really amazing family pets.

I have a black miniature poodle that's a male. Kaz handled my dog that won (an akc show not Westminster though) back in 2011! Also my dog and this dog share a common relative! Congratulations Sage!

So, they're cousins... that's cool. So many of the dogs at these shows are relatives of previous winners and contestants which is great to see since so many of them were wonderful and even after they're long gone their bloodline still exists.

@@Marcydalmatian Yes, second cousins! And I agree! My boy was a champion stud dog himself, so he's produced many champion show dogs as well as has many champion relatives. I find it interesting to look at who they're related to!

The Poodle belongs in the Sporting Group, that is their PURPOSE a HUNTING Dog! They have web feet, excellent swimmers for retrieving water fowl in the water that hunters shoot down. Maybe the reason their in the Non Sporting Group is so they can win in group judging, maybe they can't win in the Sporting Group.

In the UK they call this group the Utility group and your correct they are a sporting and hunting breed but I think due to the complex history behind the breed they just threw the miniature and standard poodles into the non-sporting group i believe they belong in the sporting group

They are so smart a few of them got together and wrote the AKC that they would much prefer to be a LAP dog.....which is not in the Sporting Dog breed specifications....😋
