What a good point when did dance culture become the way it is? I remember when I was 20 saying I would never dance with a guy because that was so gross to dance like that, I wasnt comfortable. I would go out dancing only with my girl friends. I have still never danced with a guy the way people dance now to this day.... I wonder if things changed maybe in the 70s or 80s?

Aw thanks so much! 💕 I just use a regular shampoo and condition it often with a conditioning deep treatment. I don’t have a specific store where I get my head scarves because I pick most of them up from thrift stores or I make my own! But I believe most modern stores do sell some form of head scarf. Check out target or H&M, I’m sure they will have something available! Xx

My Mother trained as, what was called back then, a 'beautician' (this included hair) in the 40s, so I grew up being exposed to a fair bit of what you're doing ... and I find it wonderful that a young lady, such as yourself, does such an authentically well done job of it. Aw thanks! 😊 for the last 2-3 years I became interested in vintage fashion after watching period dramas. I just really wanted to dress and look like all those beautiful ladies! And then I realised, I can dress however I want!! 😍 And I never have the urge to dress modern! The girls today are just wearing less and less clothes... 😂 lol

I love all of theses, mostly the braids and scarves ☺️ this is perfect because I used to wear a scarf to cover my hair when I would milk my goats and clean out their barn. My Grandma used to wear her long, straight hair like #5 until she was in her late 60s. She worked as a butcher's assistant throughout the 1940s, 50s and 60s here in NYC. Yes, she worked and had kids. Such is the life of the working classes.

I have medium curly hair and I don't usually straighten mine. I have found that the 40's style with both sides pulled back like Katherine Hepburn looks pretty vintage. Even the updos can look pretty good. Good luck!

Teens and women had to spend a LOT of time and effort in daily grooming . Straight hair wasn't allowed. Children wore braids or hair was curled with rag curlers. Women and girls had perms. No hair dryers, so curlers had to be slept on all night.

If you have long hair, I would recommend you the milkmaid braids on loepsies channel because they have no parting and go around the whole head. I don't like the look of the back of the head with normal milkmaid braids.
