It was a beautiful day to watch this classic laker add another trip to her long history. Stay safe! 😷

I was in Cincinnati last year at the National Museum of the Great Lakes and to see the Col James M Schoonmaker. Down the river I saw the Saginaw docked and was wondering what it was up to.

That museum and ship are in Toledo, my friend. The Schoonmaker is an amazing ship to tour. Hope you made it to Tony Packo's while you were in the neighborhood! There's also a ship named MANISTEE that is owned by Lower Lakes docked nearby. It is similar in looks to the Saginaw, but has been there for a few years. It's doubtful she'll see service again.

djmiller232 Hey! You’re correct! I get Toledo and Cincinnati confused. And it might’ve been the Manistee, they both look very similar . It was right near one of the bridges.

@@jonathanoosterhouse8609 It's been more than a year since I've been there, but it was well worth the time. The museum is great and the self-guided tour of the Schoonmaker lets you take as much time as you like to see every inch of the ship. They have a tugboad now named the Ohio that is also a very interesting tour. I still have a visit to Duluth on my bucket list.

I'm from NJ, but have recently seen the laker ships in my daily feed, probably because of my fascination with the Edmund Fitzgerald. I'd love to get out that way, not only to see Duluth Harbor , the Aerial Bridge and the great ships ; but also to tour the rugged Lake Superior coast . I've watched a few youtubes showing the beautiful coast: it is breathtaking and seems more like the open sea than a lake ! Do you get the northern lights by Lake Superior ? I can get multiple bucket list goals in one trip !
@alaricdogface4 жыл бұрын
Occasionally we see the northern lights but it is better away from city lights and farther north. I imagine the north shore would be great for attempted bucket listing. 🌞
