My simple answer is that Since the meitei became civilization in these land the game started . Sagol was being used everyday life as hunting, war etc. Dating back that it was played by king Kangba which was reign before Nongda Lairen Pakhngba in 33 AD as it has written record from 33 AD. Sagol kangjei was played before that time. ( pin this )

Bhai saab ye polo word tibetian word and used by baltistan and ladakh people , and origin of polo is in balawaristan (Balawaristan bneans Baltistan and ladakh before partition ).
