Can you show us the different ball positions to get those mashed ball launchings.
@SagutoGolf Жыл бұрын
We first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective on ball position. That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. TS

@JCGlock873 жыл бұрын
Excellent video as usual Mr. Saguto. I’m always amazed at how solid and straight you hit shots while filming. I love the simplicity and repeatability of the single plane swing. I tend to hit pushes/blocks so having that stick on the downswing can be just as helpful as having it on the backswing. It’s funny you mentioned the consistency of keeping the backswing and downswing on the same plane as I’ve always thought Matt Wolff’s swing won’t hold up forever compared to an Adam Scott or Ben Hogan.
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it, James! Some very accomplished golfers have stood the test of time with vastly different backswing and downswing paths. Furyk definitely comes to mind, and we'll see how Wolff holds up. But it sure takes a lot of work in comparison to a swing where the planes more closely resemble each other. Cheers! Tom

My pleasure! I'm glad you are continuing to enjoy my channel's content! Really, though, the online school is the best place to learn this swing properly and sequentially in a comprehensive, structured environment. The step-by-step, position-by-position detail you’ll get there is far superior to haphazardly piecing things together through a series of YT videos. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Hi Tom, I think in previous videos you mentioned that the ball position at address is always the same no matter what iron you use! Is this correct and you just adjust the width of your stance depending on the iron? Another great video by the way this should help me straighten out my current draw which has been a little to much to the point where I have had to bring my front foot back a bit in order to hit straight. Keep up the great work.

Glad you enjoyed the episode! You do have some leeway and allowance for personal preferences with regard to ball position, but in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and incrementally more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there let your ball striking and shot shape be your guide, and make minor tweaks accordingly.

@richarddarrah20143 жыл бұрын
Just try a slight flare, it takes stress off the knee when your weight shifts. It also helps open your lower body quicker. Don't over do it, it'll pull your hips left and you can pull shots.

duck feet are standard form if youre a stack and tilter... tom doesnt harp on it much, but he is S and T
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
@Jason Jordan, Weight forward 55/45 (up to 60/40 with the longer clubs), both feet flared out approximately 10-20 degrees, and the knees similarly angled outward, are prescribed setup features of Stack & Tilt. This orientation facilitates a free-flowing motion back and through, resulting in a very body-friendly, consistent, powerful swing. Many knees and lower backs have been ruined by placing the feet perpendicular to the target line in order to build "resistance". Our bodies are not rubber bands and that type of torquing will wear them down over time. The S&T setup allows us to create depth in our backswing, thereby enabling us to access the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". That adds up to stress-free distance! Tom

@Justin Peterson - I certainly don't hide that!!..... kzbin.info/www/bejne/hn6bnYGEp7KDe80
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
@richard darrah - You are correct that it helps take stress off the knees, but there is no weight shift in this swing. You start with your weight forward (55/45 on the front side; 60/40 for the longer clubs), increase that same weight forward to the top of the backswing (70/30), and further increase the forward weight during the downswing from halfway down (80/20) through impact (90/10) and to the finish at 95/5 forward. The result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing!

Great video! However, I am lucky when I get 175 yards with my 5 iron. Was that a 5 or 4 iron? You could hit a 5 iron that far if your clubhead speed is 120mph.
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
It's a 5 iron, John. I don't need 120 mph to hit it that far. It's all about compressing the ball on the sweet spot! @xSpiritAWx3 жыл бұрын
Seems like most hip rotation happened when hands hit level and it all moves together from there.
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
I don't think I "stumbled" on it. Far too many amateurs rotate the hips from the top without the lateral component. This throws the club out into the Zone of Death and it's chop city from there. The lateral hip slide keeps the rotation in check until the appropriate moment in the downswing, keeping the clubhead on the proper in to out path.

Hi Chris - You must keep your hips moving laterally towards the target in the downswing while your upper torso remains in place to preserve your swing center. If the hips discontinue their lateral movement prematurely, then you are correct - their rotation will take over and reroute the path across the ball. TS

I'm 18 hcp and aiming for 12 with the New swing you showed :) So cheap single length with Huge iron Head from 2020 or more expensive non single length from Titleist from 2006?
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
I can't make that type of decision for you, Gustav. There's certainly nothing wrong with a good set that's 15 years old, aside from missing out on whatever improvements have been made in terms of forgiveness and distance over that time frame. My best suggestion is to conduct your own experiment on the practice range, recognizing of course that there will be setup differences - and therefore swing path differences - between the single-length and standard clubs. Good luck, and once you've made your choice stick with it and start the process of chipping away at that handicap goal!

Hi Tom. Are you doing a Crunch and Turn downswing with you trail side obliques? It sure looks like it to me. I was wondering if that is your secret KFC recipe because I find it crunchy good myself. Cheers
@SagutoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas, If crunchy = crispy for you, then crunch away! 😎 That is not my personal feel, but the proper disassociation of the lower body and upper torso in the downswing will certainly give it that "crunch" look. However, the trail side crunch is an optional feel that I will teach, and it does resonate well with many folks and carries them through to such time that the correct motion is well-ingrained. Cheers! TS
@thomasfraser90723 жыл бұрын
@@SagutoGolf yes I simply crunch and turn my torso at the exact same time as I read this dual movements can only occur with our obliques that are attached to our lower rib cage down to the muscles of our hips. That why Crunch and Turn become easier for your students to do. I see you are working your obliques to a tee as they are also what specifically decelerates your body at the end of your swing. Cheers

I'm glad you enjoyed the episode, Kirk! It’s essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. For example, we place a little bit less weight forward at address (55% vs. 60%) and incrementally narrow our stance width for the shorter clubs. As for ball position, it should be approximately in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and incrementally more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver. Let's not confuse the takeaway - which should mimic the shaft plane - with the top of backswing position, in which the club elevates due to the lead arm crossing the chest 45 degrees. If you pause the video at the top of my backswing you'll notice that my lead arm matches the shoulder plane.

i would cetainly agree that the left arm should come down on the same angle; but, the way you demonstrate the move and the way you hit the ball are two different things. both times you bring your left arm down perfectly on plane; but, when you demonstrate the arm movement there is no movement of your left side. when you hit the ball your left side rotates to the left; which, of course, is totally correct. and, the problem is that when players try to bring their left arm arm down on a plane they can get trapped on the inside. and, when we look closely at hogan's swing we can see that his left chest rotates as he holds his left arm off, in the start of his downswing; which actually increases his swing coil- as you, also, do- and that is key. the left arm and left chest work as antagonistic opposites. which sounds over complicated; but, by simplifying things a player can achieve this. when you look at player down the line you can get a clear indication of whether their left arm is out of their peripheral vision at the top of the backswing; and, if it stays out of their peripheral vision in their downswing. and, i do think that a player has to become consciously aware of whether they can, or can't, see their left arm, in their peripheral vision. and, if they focus on keeping their arm out of their peripheral vision there is a good chance that they will rotate their left chest to the left, in the start of the downswing, as a reactionary move. but, either way the left chest has to rotate and the left arm has to stay out of the peripheral vision.
