I found this on wikipedia: "Cry for the Moon is a demo album by the Dutch symphonic metal band Epica. At the time of the demo's release, Epica was still known as Sahara Dust and its female vocalist was Helena Iren Michaelsen. But the Sahara Dust demo has been sung in by Simone Simons and not Helena Iren Michaelsen what many people think."

@@ceobert Definitely listen to The Calling to hear her versatility and crazy witch-like and opera vocals! The song Queen Of Light is also a classic Imperia song I'd say with powerful operatic vocals, Fata Morgana another powerful amazing song where you can hear some of the real deep alto range of her voice, Fly Like The Wind for amazing deep alto vocals as well, Broken Wings is a beautiful ballad, Norway is also an epic fun song, Abyssum is a majestic song, and Mirror is the great catchy album opener song. All these songs are mention are from her band Imperia, but really just listen to the full Queen of Light album, it's an amazing one! Oh the song Suicide from their following album is a great one too, with more of those crazy witch-like vocals.

Of course it's Simone! Have you ever heard Helena's voice? If not, you should listen to the first two albums of Trail of Tears, or any of Imperia's albums. The difference is cleary audiable.

yo pense que sta cancion salio con la banda ya con el nombre de epica no que habia salido cuando la banda se llamaba sahara dust eta chica no suena mal pero me quedo con la version de epica ya cuando se llamaron epica y contrataros a simone simons como su vocalista las modificaciones que le hicieron a esta cancion la mejoraron me gusta mas esta cancion con epica que con sahara dust.

Además de Imperia, Helena también tiene su proyecto llamado Angel y también por muchos años fue vocalista de Trail of Tears (banda recomendadisma). Y ya como historia, Helena conoció a Mark en 2002 y fundaron lo que ahora es Epica, pero salió porque no le gustaba la actitud de Mark y los miembros al hablar de manera horrible de Floor y Sander (After Forever). Con su salida, casi no tenemos a Simone en la voz, porque los miembros de Epica no querían ya que en esa epoca Mark y Simone eran pareja y si se separaban la banda podría verse afectada, al no haber nadie, aceptaron y he aquí, el demo que salió de que dejaran que Simone grabara y fuese la voz oficial hasta el día de hoy. Este demo se grabo cuando Simone tenía 17 años. Por cierto, aunque la que escuchamos aquí es Simone y no a Helena, Helena si llego a grabar un demo que jamás fue lanzado y probablemente, Mark lo tenga enterrado en alguna caja de su casa xD

Did you know that demos were done by Helena Iren Michaelsen, not Simone Simons. Though, Helena Iren Michaelsen’s pitch and range did not fit the band's needs. So Helena left, and Simone joined. Hence the band changed its name from Sahara Dust to Epica. So please stop associating the demo with Simone Simons, because if Simone Simons did this, then the demo would be of higher quality, and the band’s demo name would be Epica rather than Sahara Dust. No disrespect to Helena, but Simone has a higher pitch and range.

There are no Sahara Dust recordings with Helena. And their name wasn't changed to Epica until a few months after Simone joined the band. The name change had nothing to do with Helena leaving the band.
