The crowd looks like they're in a church! I really love this band they should come to buenos aires for a proper crowd singing and jumping all along the show. they should try the Argentinian passion for rock! sadly, I think sahara hotnights is not a very well known band here...I wish they were so we could maybe have them here

I saw them live 3 times: twice in the U.S. (Pittsburgh & Asbury Park, NJ) and once in Europe (Stockholm) and none of the crowds ever went nuts despite the band being so phenomenal live. This was back in 2004 & 2008 and I think that back then it still wasn’t cool to admit to really liking an all-female rock band, so the audience always remained somewhat low-key. But damn were SHN freakin’ incredible in concert! So glad I got to see (and meet) them.

Bear with me music lovers, this anecdote leads somewhere.... In the 1950's, Stirling Moss' sister Pat, owned & drove a Triumph TR2 and wanted to go racing. She approached Triumph to get some sponsorship, since she already drove one of their cars. They saw her as a "woman driver", not simply as a driver and she didn't get that sponsorship. She DID get sponsorship from Austin Healey and she went on to conquer in European rallying, not in the sub-class of women's racing (as they then had) but driving against the men. Triumph had lost some glory and a lot of great publicity! Sahara Hotnights were a superb group that went head-to-head with any other band, for my money. But did they ever break out of that "girl group" stigma? I'd like to be wrong about this but I think that's why they're not a house-hold name, as they deserve to be.
@gordonruthpanther12594 жыл бұрын
The drummer went on to do 3 albums with Casablanca and the singer did a solo album. All different styles (rockier and mellower, respectively) but all worth getting hold of. All 6 SH albums are great of course. I've just got half way through drumming along to the set but now I'm pooped so will save second half for tomorrow!

Josephine Forsman. Nearly half of my playing-along learning-to-play-drums was to SH and Casablanca songs/albums. I wanted to pick a drummer to focus on from the start and loved the music and could hear there was a really wide variety. I knew Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) wouldn't be a suitable drum hero for me to pick - too frantic, too complex, too massive a kit! Anyway, was a good decision so I have the "tribute" tattoo! (same thing, different year) # :)
