How To Build an AMERICAN TUDOR Like a Nerd - Base Game In-Depth Sims 4 Building Tutorial

Come build an American Tudor, or Tudor Revival, home with me! The Tudor Revival is found in primarily the Northeast and Midwest United States and was mostly built around 1920-1930, although new constructions still use this style regularly. Hallmarks of this architectural style include steep roofs, front facing gables, multiple chimneys, and primarily brick construction. Yes! Totally agree with this. I think what makes this channel interesting for me, is that there's not many people who make this type of tutorial. I find it very unique and refreshing!

Part of the reason I make these videos is because I wish I had been able to find more interesting and diverse tutorials when I was learning how to build. At the time it seems like there were maybe three houses that every creator had a tutorial for, but beyond that it was very difficult to find anything good.

I love this series! Honestly have only watched the 2 Tudor videos 😅. But what do you think of a challenge where you have only one layout, and you have to turn that shell into all of the different architectural styles? Could be a fun way to see how a lot of styles relate

I've kind of done that with squares before, and touched on it in the contemporary video, but I agree that could be a really interesting standalone video as well 🤔 I'll add it to the list! The list is like 60 things though so don't hold your breath 😅

Can't wait for the thatched roof cottage build! I don't know if they were popular in America, but in the UK we have a series of childrens books called Milly-Molly-Mandy about a little girl who lives in a village with 8 thatched cottages. I'm very lucky and live in an area of the UK where we still have some (but not many) thatched houses, you're right it's a shame they aren't more common and definitely a lost skill. Love your videos as always (sorry for the long rambling comment).

Oh I love long rambling comments 💙 I've never heard of that book series but it sounds adorable. The first time I really sat down and thought about thatched roofs was a few years ago when we were touring some historic houses in our state. The architect was adamant on having those on his houses, but finding people to maintain them has been incredibly difficult and expensive. Pretty sure they do have to fly someone in from overseas. When I do more research I'll know if it's a climate thing over here or not, which I suspect it is because that's most of the reason we started building differently over here.

I'm now obsessed with this series! Just watched the Mediterranean build, and was wondering what build you'd use the bright blue tile roof, maybe a greek build? I'd love to see something like that!

Swapping out the red for the blue would definitely immediately give a Greek vibe. I'd definitely love to do some authentic Greek builds in the future!

So cool! I know you try to do a lot of base game compatible builds but I want to say I’m interested in seeing some builds where you really go ham with any packs you fancy and don’t worry about compatibility. Also ADUs, it’s really common in my area to put an ADU in the backyard for additional housing, would you consider doing an architectural adu video? LA has a bunch of plans that anyone can use for free to try to streamline their construction.

I was actually just watching a video last week about some of the ways cities either are or aren't implementing ADUs (and their effects) and it was fascinating, so it's definitely something I've had on my mind. That might be a good video to talk about the best way to use the roommate function from Discover University 🤔

I do try to make everything as easy and accessible as I can, so I do like using limited or no packs and trying to point out weak areas when it comes to bugs, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of builds in the future with many packs, too. I don't plan on stopping any time soon 😁 The Rebuild Like a Nerd and Furnish Like a Nerd spinoff series that are in the works would probably be good places to implement that 🤔

I've watched all your tutorials and they've helped so much, but do you think you could help with penthouses! I've never seen one in real life and the floorplans are hard to find, I'm also not sure about elevator placement?

I love this build but I have unfortunately had some problems with it. The stairway with the special floor keeps resetting itself to default, making me have to re-do it basically every time i load the lot, and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to fix it. Also the sims do not like to use the arch ways, they'd rather walk through the wall next to the archway heh. Otherwise a beautiful build and fantastic tutorial as always

@@sahm_and_bean I do enjoy it quite a lot! I ended up making the second floor on the garage and doing the extension like you recommended for a larger family (my main family of five plus a cat heh). It's an awesome build, I just wish my floor would stop rebuilding itself!
