হংকং এর মানুষদের মুখে বাংলা ভাষা সত্যি অবাক করার মতো

ওরা বাংলাদেশে এসে আমাদের হৃদয় জয় করে চলে গেল।
হংকং-এর সেরা কয়েকটি স্কুল-কলেজের বেস্ট ১২ জন ছাত্র-ছাত্রী বাংলাদেশে এসেছিল স্টুডেন্ট এম্বাসেডর হিসেবে। ওদের সাথে এসেছিল হংকং এর শীর্ষস্থানীয় অভিনেত্রী, একজন আলোকচিত্রী ও অরবিসের দুজন কমিউনিকেশন স্পেশালিষ্ট। উদ্দেশ্য ছিল- বাংলাদেশের অন্ধত্ব নিবারণে অরবিসের কাজগুলো অবজার্ভ করা।
বিভিন্ন পারিবারিক উৎসব থেকে প্রাপ্ত অর্থ দিয়ে তারা একটা তহবিল গঠন করেছিল। ফটোগ্রাফি করে কিংবা বিভিন্ন ডিজাইনের হস্তশিল্প প্রোডাক্ট নিজেরা তৈরি করে সেগুলো বিক্রি করে প্রাপ্ত অর্থও সেই তহবিলে জমা দিয়েছে। এরপর সেই টাকা উন্নয়নশীল দেশগুলোতে অন্ধত্ব নিবারণের জন্য অরবিসকে ডোনেট করেছে। এতটা মানবিক, এতটা চিন্তাশীল স্মার্ট এক অসাধারণ প্রজন্ম গড়ে উঠেছে সেখানে।
ওরা বাংলাদেশে এসেছে। বাংলাদেশকে ভালবেসেছে। বাংলাদেশের মানুষকে ভালবেসেছে। ভালবেসেছে বাংলা ভাষাকে। জেনেছে ১৯৫২, ১৯৬৯, ১৯৭১, ১৯৯০। জেনেছে সম্ভাবনার নতুন বাংলাদেশকে।
সেই টুকরো টুকরো স্মৃতি একসাথে করে একটি ভিডিও বানিয়েছি। ভিডিওটি বানাতে গিয়ে আমি কেঁদেছি। কি অসাধারণ একটা টিমের সাথে পাঁচটি মূল্যবান দিন কাটালাম। কতো কিছু শিখলাম এই বাচ্চাদের কাছে!
গত রাতে ওরা দেশে ফিরে গেছে কিন্তু আমি এখনো ওদের কাছ থেকে পাওয়া অসাধারণ সময় গুলো রোমন্থন করছি। ওরাও বারবার লিখছে, মিস করছে বাংলাদেশকে। ভালো থাকুক তরুণ প্রজন্ম। জয় হোক মানবতার। জয় হোক বাংলার।
They came to Bangladesh and won our hearts.
The top 12 students from some of the best schools and colleges in Hong Kong came to Bangladesh as student ambassadors. They were accompanied by a leading Hong Kong actress SO Yuk-wa, Louisa 蘇玉華, a famous photographer and two communications specialists from Orbis. The objective was to observe and learn the work of Orbis in the prevention of blindness in Bangladesh.
They formed a fund with the money received from various family festivals. The money obtained by photography or selling handicraft products of various designs by themselves has also been deposited in that fund. The money is then donated to Orbis to fight blindness in developing countries. An extraordinary generation, so humane, so thoughtful and smart, has developed there.
They came to Bangladesh. Loved Bangladesh. Loved the people of Bangladesh. Loved Bengali language. They came to know our history of 1952, 1969, 1971, 1990. Know the potential of the smart Bangladesh.
I made a video of those memories together. I cried while making the video. What an amazing team I spent five precious days with. I learned a lot from these children!
They went back home last night but I still cherish the wonderful times I had with them. They are also writing again and again, they missing Bangladesh. Good luck young youth. Let humanity win. Let Bangla win.
