Her excellency, Madam High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the UK made very interesting and valuable comments. With all respects to Bangabandhu and his stellar contribution to the liberation of Bangladesh from the jackboot of Pakistani rule, one must clarify one aspect. He was not the "হাজার বছরের শ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙালি"। That epithet justifiably goes to other sensational Bengali individuals. It appears that this is part of a political narrative in contemporary Bangladesh to ensure the enduring legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Anyway, by saying this, one is not trying to downgrade or disrespect the founding father of the current independent republic of Bangladesh. But, the real aspect is surely understood and must be understood by others. Thank you.
